May 13, 1925 Halifax, NS - November 29, 2014 Drumheller, AB


Surrounded by her loving family, Frances passed away peacefully at the Drumheller Continuing Care. She is survived by; her children Paul (Sharon), Mark (Karen Lee), Harriett, Jeannette (Craig), Mary Lou (Alfred), Josey (Randy), Frances (Leonard), Anthony (Sherry), twenty-three grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by; her loving husband, Len (June 2014), her parents, John Brown (1932) and Harriett Ryan (1962), her siblings and her grandson, Andrew Patterson. Mom was educated in Halifax and received her RN in 1946. She nursed at the Halifax Sick Children’s Hospital before heading west to Alberta where she continued her nursing career at the Drumheller Hospital and met her husband to be of 64 years. Frances was an avid reader, loved to cook and garden, and enjoyed knitting, but most of all loved being with her family. Her family was her life. Mom loved singing and music and sang in the choir at St. Anthony’s Church for many years, and was also a CWL member. Thank you to the staff at the Continuing Care for the compassionate, loving care shown to our parents during their stay. Family and friends are invited to Prayer Services, on Friday, December 5, 2014, at 7:00 P.M. at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Drumheller, Alberta. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 151 3 Street West, Drumheller, AB, with Father Fernando Genogaling officiating. In lieu of flowers, family and friends may make memorial donations to St. Anthony’s Parish Building Fund at 151 3rd Street West Drumheller, AB T0J 0Y4. Courtney-Winters Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
