GIECK nee CARDAMONE ANGELA MARIA (BUTT)

GIECK, nee Cardamone Angela Maria (Butt)

July 11, 1930 - July 14, 2014

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Angela Maria Gieck, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on July 14, 2014 at Drumheller Continuing Care (Victoria Lane), surrounded by her family. She was born in Haynes, Alberta and moved to Drumheller with her family at an early age and lived in Drumheller for the rest of her life. Angela was predeceased by her husband David Gieck (2007), her parents Agostino and Francesca Cardamone, her brother and sister-in-law Tony and Noemi Cardamone, her sister and brother-in-law Kay and Mario Blasetti. She is survived by her loving children, Cathy (Bob) Chambers of Morrin, Ed Butt of Morrin, Tony (Cathy) Butt of Drumheller, her grandchildren Mark Chambers, Chris (Deanna) Chambers, Melanie (Ryan) Monaco, Jenna (Wes) Leath-Watson, Michael (Monica) Butt, Tyler Butt and Brittany Butt, her great-grandchildren Malachi, Kerric, Kaelin, Tyson, Tanner, Julia and Cali, her brother and sister-in-law Joe and Anna May Cardamone, and many nieces and nephews. Angela enjoyed working with the public at North Drum Grocery, Anderson Drugs and Jennifer’s Fashions until her retirement. Family was everything to her. She donated many evenings and weekends babysitting her grandchildren with Dave’s help for 7 years. She especially enjoyed family get-togethers, picnics, holidays, birthdays and anniversaries. She was interested in all the grandchildren’s activities and travelled to many hockey games and tournaments. She treated all the kid’s friends as extended family. She enjoyed camp-outs at Pine Lake, the trips to Ft. McMurray and Kelowna with each of the families and spending time at the farm riding around on the machinery especially at seeding and harvest. Dave taught her to fish and they spent many days fishing and travelling in the motorhome to B.C. and Pine Lake. Angela was a life member of the CWL and a member of the Sewing Circle and enjoyed their many get-togethers. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her. We wish to thank Dr. Maseka, the staff of the Drumheller Hospital, the staff at Continuing Care (Victoria Lane) for their care, kindness and compassion to Mom and us especially in her final days. It will always be remembered. A service will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Drumheller at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014. Interment of her ashes will follow at the Drumheller Cemetery for the family. In lieu of flowers, if you so desire donations can be made to: Drumheller & Area Health Foundation (Continuing Care) 351 9th St NW, Drumheller AB, T0J 0Y1,  Alberta Diabetes Foundation or the charity of your choice in memory of Angela Gieck.
