SMITH Larry

Smith, Larry

Larry was born in Drumheller Alberta, to Fred & Eileen Smith.  He started his education in Drumheller before moving to Duncan, B.C. where he then graduated from Cow High. After High School he went on to complete a Civil Engineering Technician Diploma from B.C.I.T. Larry spent most of his career in the oil and gas exploration industry, in a managerial role. His work took him to various countries, spending great lengths of time in Central and South America.  Becoming fluent in the Spanish language, he called Mexico his second home. He spent long periods of down time relaxing on the beach enjoying the warmth of the southern climate. He loved sailing, fishing, and family time. He was a certified sailing instructor who took great pride in his ability to sail his boat solo.  Although his greatest joy was fishing with family and friends! Larry was predeceased by his father Fred Smith. He will be sadly missed by his mom Eileen, his brother Bill (Mary Ann) and their children Michael (Nadine), Derrick (Jessica), Breanne (Ryan) and Alannah (Evan), his brother Daryl (Nikki) and their children Shelby (Matt), Kaili (Craig), Colby (Addie). Also great nieces and nephews Ethan, Madden, Paisley, Everett and Isabella. He also leaves to mourn extended family and a few very special friends. He was a best friend to all and in our hearts will be loved and missed more than he will ever know. By request a small family gathering will be held at a later date.
