McLELLAN, Murray Alexander
December 23, 1931 to February 17, 2014


It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Murray Alexander McLellan on 17 February 2014 at the Continuing Care Unit of the Drumheller Health Centre in Drumheller, AB at the age of 82.  He was born 23 December 1931 in Winnipeg, MB and relocated to Alberta during his service with Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) from 1949 to 1952.  He married the love of his life, Doreen Smith of Drumheller, in 1951.  After leaving PPCLI, Murray worked for Canadian Utilities Ltd (now ATCO Electric Ltd), Whitlock Lumber, Drumheller Valley School Division #62 and the Canadian Penitentiary Service (now Correctional Service of Canada), retiring in 1996.  He owned his own painting business, Murray A McLellan Painting, and was a partner in D&M Steel Fencing with his son-in-law, Doug.  Murray is survived by his wife of 62-years, Doreen; son, Kerry (Pamela) McLellan of Munson, AB; sons, Kevin (Brenda); Frederick “Kent” (Twyla) and daughter, Kris Kucher of Drumheller, AB as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He is predeceased by his parents, William McLellan and Dorothy McBean of Winnipeg, MB; brother, Gerald McLellan of Duncan, BC; son, Robert “Kim” and son-in-law, Doug Kucher of Drumheller, AB.  A funeral service was held on 22 February 2014 at the Nazarene Church in Drumheller, AB followed by a reception at the Midlandvale Community Hall.  Arrangements were entrusted to Personal Alternatives Funeral Services.  Those wishing to do so may make a donation in memory of Murray to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation in Calgary, AB.
