Giesbrecht, Kenneth Roger
November 26, 1949 - February 1, 2014

Ken passed away peacefully at his home in Carbon in the early morning hours of February 1, 2014 at the age of 64. Ken was a gentle giant with a heart that matched the size of his frame. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Jeannette, his daughters whom he adored; Natalie, Lisa (James), Meagan and Erin and the big black bugger Jasper, his grandsons who were very special to him; Lance and Brennan, his brothers and sister; Gilbert (Wilma), Edith (Bob), Doug and numerous nieces and nephews with whom he shared many memories. He was predeceased by his father Aaron his mother Ella and his nephew Corey. Ken was born at the Linden Nursing Home. His family lived on a farm between Swalwell and Linden until he was 9 when his family moved to the farm north of Carbon. Ken was a mechanic by trade, and over the years took pride in assisting in the apprenticeship of many mechanics in his 25 years as owner/operator of Carbon Valley Motors. He was a jack of all trades and loved to fix things that were never meant to be fixed. His motto was always “Improvise, Adapt and Overcome”. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Mountain View Credit Union towards the purchase of a memorial bench to be placed outside of Carbon Valley Motors, which he owned for almost forty years. Services were held Friday, February 7 at the Carbon Community Centre at 2 PM, luncheon following. Kneehill Funeral Services, Three Hills, entrusted with arrangements. 403-443-5111.
