PETERSON Foley Cyril

PETERSON, Foley Cyril
September 25, 1927 – October 25th, 2013

With great sadness and thankfulness for a long life well lived, the family of Rev. Foley Cyril Peterson announces his sudden passing, peacefully at home, on October 25th, 2013. Foley is lovingly remembered by his wife, Noreen; his children: Lionel (Nicole) Peterson, Howard (Debra) Peterson, Nancy (Gary) Lindseth, Neil (Larisa) Peterson; his 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; Noreen’s children: Shauna, Scott and Shannon; and Noreen’s 4 grandchildren; as well as his brother, Virgil (Peggy). Foley was pre-deceased by his wife Vivian in 1992, and brothers Garet and Maynard. Foley was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan on September 25th, 1927 and spent his formative years in the Saskatoon area. He and his young family later moved to Alberta where in 1961 he answered the call to ministry with the United Church of Canada. His ministry lasted over 30 years and took him to the communities of St. Paul, Mannville, Killam, Athabasca, Creston, and Drumheller. His zeal for work and life in the church was matched by his enthusiasm for sports and outdoor activities, but his greatest love and pride was always reserved for his family. A Funeral Service will be held at Highlands United Church 11305 – 64 St., Edmonton on Friday, November 1st with Rev. John Burrill officiating. Visitation for those wishing to pay their respects will begin at 1:00 pm with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm. Lunch and a time of fellowship will follow. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Canadian Badlands Passion Play, Box 457, Drumheller AB  T0J 0Y0; or to the charity of one’s choice.
