MARSHALL Florence Mary

MARSHALL, Florence Mary
November 18, 1921 – September 28, 2013

It is with great sadness that the family of Florence Mary Marshall (Imler) announces the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.  Florence passed away peacefully on September 28, 2013 at the Drumheller Hospital surrounded by family.  She was predeceased by her loving husband Bert (Carl Albert), daughter Arlene, her Mother and Father Harry and Mary Imler, Brother Hardy and his wife Davina, and her Brother George and his wife Terry.  She is survived by her sons Richard (Connie), Ramsay (Linda) and Gino (Carrie) daughters Bev (Ray), Connie (Larry), Norrain (Brad), Anna (Cary), Wanda (Kevin), Vicky (Bob), 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and another on the way.  She is also survived by her sister Alvina Hawthorne, sister in-laws Mary Long, Edith Larson, Kay Robertson, Lorraine Cooney, Josie Roline, Elsie Limpert, Maude Marshall and numerous nieces and nephews. Florence was the youngest of four children born to Harry and Mary Imler; Alvina was the oldest, then Hardy and George and Florence. She was born in the Delia hospital which was formerly a doctor’s home (the big Limpert house) and was raised on a farm 7 miles north of Delia where she attended Surprise School. She met her husband Carl Albert (Bert) Marshall in 1936 and they were married on April 20, 1941.  When Bert went off to war, she moved back to her family home to raise their oldest son, Richard. Shortly after his return, they purchased their first and only farm and raised 8 more children. The family enjoyed Sunday afternoon trips to Mothers Mountain where they picked buckets of Saskatoon berries.  Hand Hills Stampede was also a highlight for Florence and her family. We will all remember her for her baking (especially her bread and buns) and her wonderful cooking. Florence was a member of the Legion Auxiliary Branch #61 (Delia) where she was president for a year, a member and secretary of the C.W.L (Delia) and a member of the St. George’s Parish in Hanna.  She moved to Delia in November 2003 where she was active in the Senior Drop In Center, frequent patron of Luke’s and enjoyed her coffee parties.  Prayers are to be held at St. George’s Church in Hanna on Thursday, October 3 at 8:00 p.m with funeral to follow on Friday October 4 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be at the Delia Cemetery with lunch to follow at the Delia Community Centre. Donations may be made to the Drumheller Health Foundation. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Courtney-Winters Funeral Chapel (403) 823-2666.
