DICKIE John Boyd

DICKIE, John Boyd
July 25, 1950 - May 29, 2013

The family of Boyd Dickie are very saddened to announce that our beloved brother passed away after a brief illness in Vancouver on May 29, 2013 at the age of 62 years. Boyd was born on July 25, 1950 and grew up in Drumheller, and loved the valley and surrounding areas. After earning his High Power System Electrician Certificate at N.A.I.T., he lived in Grande Prairie, working for many years for Valard Construction in the northern Alberta area, as well as for Ace Powerline Construction, McGregor Construction and other powerline contractors in Alberta, B.C. and the Yukon Territories, culminating his career with Valard in the Calgary and Edmonton areas. Over the years he worked as both Lineman and a Line Crew Foreman, before retiring and moving to Vancouver. Boyd had a great love of travelling and was never happier than when he was exploring exotic destinations such as Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Europe and Mexico. Boyd was predeceased by his loving parents, Walter Dickie in October of 1983 and Evelyn Dickie in October of 2009. He leaves to lovingly remember and miss him, his sisters Lynne Dickie, Nova Kletchko (Dennis), Marg Hunter, and Joyce McKay (Scott). He is also survived by his nephews Maxwell McKay (Erin), Wallace McKay, Ron Dorozio (Kim), Derek Pickell (Nitsa), niece Brooke McCalmon (Ross) and many caring aunts, uncles and cousins. At Boyd’s request no services will be held, but we hope family and friends will remember him the way we will - sitting on a warm beach with the sand in his toes, a gentle breeze in his hair, and a big smile on his face. The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at the Vancouver General Hospital and the Marion Hospice for their kind and compassionate caring for Boyd. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
