Predeceased by son Dan Jensen, sister Amelia Rasmussen, brothers Ralph Jensen, Carl Jensen, Jerry Jensen. Wally was born to Walter and Julia (Christensen) Jensen on June 07, 1926 in Standard, AB. After the passing of his mother, he grew up in the Rosebud area with his maternal grandmother, grandfather and uncles. On May 03, 1947, he married Joan Martin. For the first two years of farming, he subsidized the farming income by working winters in the local coal mines, holding the record of mining the largest amount of coal in a single day. Soon, he would include raising livestock in the farm operation. In 1958 he acquired his private pilots license in flying, an accomplishment he was very proud of. He continued to enjoy watching airplanes until his passing. He farmed with Joan near Rosebud for 51 years, retiring to Strathmore in 2002. He continued to enjoy the family farm, now owned and operated by his grandson Dan, Carrie and Benny Gallaugher, up to his passing. Wally and Joan spent 65 loving years farming, travelling, and camping with his beloved family and close friends. Wally’s work ethic was matched by his love of play. He excelled at school athletics, was a good snow and water skier and loved windsurfing, a sport that he enjoyed into his 80’s. He has been an inspiration, a role model and a most loving father and grandfather. We would like to give special thanks to staff at Bethany Care Center Level 6, Sunshine Point (Calgary) for their kind and loving care of Walter and family. Thanks as well to staff on Unit 62 and Emergency FMC. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 2:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, we would ask that you provide donations in Wally’s name to Bethany Care Center Level 6 Sunshine Point (916-18A ST NW Calgary Alberta T2N 1C6).
