CULLUM (SAWICKI) Helen Phyllis

CULLUM (SAWICKI), Helen Phyllis

August 3, 1938 - November 28, 2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Helen passed away peacefully with family by her side November 28th at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. Helen was born on the family farm in Ashville, Manitoba. She was the second oldest of six children. Helen was the mother of eight children. In 1980 she settled in Drumheller and raised her children. In 1993, Helen moved to Munson where she spent the rest of her life enjoying the small community with family near by. Helen worked as a cook at the Dinosaur Trail Golf and Country Club for many years as well as the Drumheller Elks Club. Family and friends meant everything to Helen and the more the merrier. Cooking and taking care of others was her passion. Everyone knew where Helen’s house was, and that’s where she was most at home. The house was always full of family and friends. She lived for others, selflessly. Helen is survived by her children; Lila Luka, Connie Misson, Don McLaughlin (Chrysta Lynn), Janice Gerk (Lorne), Shirley Hayes (Steve), Kim Richard (Paul), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother Ed (Gertie), brother John (Maxine), sister Dianne (Ron), brother Ted, and many other family and friends. She was predeceased by her Father and Mother, sons Kelly and Morgan, nephew Kevin, sister Lillian, son-in-law Nikoli and grandsons Duncan and Brandon. A celebration of life will be held at the Munson Community Hall, Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Diabetes Foundation (1-020 HRIF-East, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, T6G 9Z9).
