WILL, Eleanor
December 16, 1919 - December 17, 2011

After a life well lived, Eleanor Will passed away peacefully at the Strathmore Continuing Care Centre on Friday, December 16, 2011 at the age of 91 years. She was born on December 17, 1919 in Drumheller, Alberta, the first child of Gordon and Blanche Kidd. In her youth she spent many happy hours accompanying her father, a mining engineer and geologist, exploring the hillsides for seams of coal. This laid the foundation for her interest in rocks, wild flowers and plants. From him she learned that everything was to be thoroughly studied and recorded. After graduating from Normal School in Calgary she took her first position as a teacher in 1941-42 at Makepeace School. On October 12, 1943, she married William (Bill) Will, and worked alongside him in their farming operation at Hussar. In the following years Eleanor devoted all of her energies to her husband, their growing family, and the farm. Eleanor instilled in her six children the importance of education and the value of work. She believed that if a job was worth doing then it was worth doing your very best. Eleanor was a devoted wife and mother, who believed in others and encouraged them to reach the ideals she valued. Those who knew her best will always remember her sweetness and gentleness. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband William Frederick Will in 2002 and is survived by her children: Gordon (Dora) Will, Elaine (Keith) Bellamy, Douglas (Sherilynne) Will, Ronald Will, Brian (Carlene) Will and Janice Will; seventeen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister Ruth Froitzheim and brother Keith (Gloria) Kidd; sister-in-law Ollie (Robert) Hulen; ten nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews. At the Family’s request, a private Family Service will be held. Interment will be held in the Garden of Serenity, Mountain View Memorial Gardens. If so desired, donations may be made to the Strathmore Long-Term Care Centre (200 Brent Boulevard, Strathmore, Alberta, T1P 1J9 Telephone: 403-361-7000).
