WATTS, Edith May

We are saddened to announce the passing of our wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Edith was born in Drumheller and raised in the Michichi and Rumsey areas. She married the love of her life on June 7th, 1950 and they raised four children while farming in the Scollard area. She worked hard on the farm beside her husband until they semi-retired, building a new home in Big Valley in 1976. Mom & Dad spent lots of time camping at Rochon Sands where she always caught more fish than any of the rest of us. Mom and Dad started going to Arizona in about 1981 where they took up the game of golf and made such good friends. They moved from Big Valley to Rochon Sands in the fall of 1993. Mom loved watching the birds in her garden and the wildlife wander through the yard. In 2005 they moved to their condo in Stettler. Wherever their home was it was a central point for many a family gathering. There was always good food on the table and lots of laughs to be had. Edith is survived by her loving husband Loren, one son Lyle (Lorna), children Dana (Sandy) Clancy, Clint (Denise) Watts; three daughters Carol (Doug) Bryson, children Kyle, Kent (Shantel), Mark, Lisa (Ryan) Legere; Marie (Rusty) McLean, children Jennifer and Jessica; Kathy Campbell (Harvey Jochelman), child Heather (Chris) Tomkins; along with 15 great grandchildren; two sisters Joyce (Gordon) Primrose, Marjorie (Orville) Olsen along with numerous nieces and nephews.Special thanks to Dr. Scot Dowden and nurses Charlene and Wendy along with all the chemo nurses of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre that Edith came to know during her five year fight with cancer. Thanks also to Dr. Lockhat and the nurses at the Stettler hospital and the Homecare staff for their care and support. A celebration of Edith’s life was held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 in the Heartland Chapel of Stettler Funeral Home with Reverend Susan Bowyer officiating. Son Lyle Watts and family friend Wes Spencer gave loving tributes in memory of Edith. Grandson Mark Bryson as pianist and granddaughter Lisa Legere as soloist and leader of song shared their beautiful gift of music. Granddaughter Heather Campbell presented a touching poem that she had written in memory of gramma. Following the service family and friends joined together to share fond memories and a luncheon prepared and served by Linda Hall Ladies.
