Nicholas Alan Brett passed away on June 24, 2011 at the age of 20 years. Nicholas was born on March 25, 1991 in Westlock, Alberta and lived in Westlock and Clyde, Alberta where he lived for his first four years. Then in 1995, along with his family, Nick moved to Drumheller, Alberta. He was enrolled in Drumheller Central School’s French Immersion Program and then continued on to Greentree Elementary School and then later graduated from Drumheller Composite High School in 2009.Nick then graduated with honours as a Fourth Class Power Engineer at the South Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, Alberta in 2010. Nick returned to Drumheller to work for Rhino Enterprises as a Oil/Gas Operator, contracting for Encana Wayne Oil Battery. Nick was recognized as one of the most outstanding soccer players to come from Drumheller, captaining his Drumheller teammates to several Provincial Playoffs, culminating in his lifelong dream to be the U-18 First place Provincial Champions for 2009. Nick is survived by his loving parents Mel and Jerry Brett, sister Jemma and brothers; Joel and Dean, his grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in England, Canada and New Zealand. Nick will be dearly missed by many countless friends in his community and from afar. A Memorial Service to celebrate Nick’s life will be held at Drumheller Central School Gym, Thursday June 30, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. Drumheller, Alberta. Following the service his family and friends will be going to the Drumheller Soccer Association Fields at Hy-Grade Industrial Park for a memorial soccer game (so bring your cleats) to remember the beautiful boy who played the beautiful game.
