Mary Soloski (nee Holowath) passed away in Red Deer, Alberta at the age of 79 on May 30, 2011. Mary was born on November 12, 1931 in Beynon, Alberta to Pauline and Harry Holowath. She attended business school in Calgary where she met and later married Rudy Soloski in 1955. They lived in Calgary, farmed in Rumsey for a few years and later moved to North Battleford, Sask. where Rudy owned and operated the Roxy Photo Studio. In 1974 Mary began work at the Battleford’s Union Hospital as a ward clerk and retired in 1994. Shortly after, Mary retired to Red Deer where she was active in the ‘buddy reading program’ at Dawe Center; assisting seniors providing rides and doing errands; and taking part in St. Mary’s Parish activities. Mary was predeceased by her husband Rudy in 1983, her father Harry in 1950, mother Pauline in 2000. She is survived by son Michael (Kathy), son Brian, daughter Patricia, son Allan, daughter Janet; two grandchildren, Aaron, Klea. Mary is also survived by sister Stella (Al) Cassidy of Stettler, brother Fred (Pat) Holowath of Rumsey, sister Rose (John) Grant of Stettler as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in Red Deer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
