Pontifex, Donald Arthur

Mr. Don Pontifex, a longtime resident of the Morrin Farming Community went home to be with his Lord on June 19, 2011 at the Drumheller Health Centre. Don was born on June 18, 1950 in Drumheller, Alberta to Walter and Gladys Pontifex. Don resided in the Morrin area for his entire life. Don loved to farm the family land, and truly enjoyed the lifestyle that farming offered. He was very active in numerous community organizations, treasurer of the Bethany Lutheran Church for many years, a charter member of the Morrin Lions Club, executive member of the Drumheller Victim Services, and a member of the Drumheller Valley Bus Society. Don also worked very diligently for the Drumheller and Area Health Foundation. Don always had a smile and a kind greeting for all he met. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter in 1994, Gladys in 2007. Don leaves to mourn his loss, his brother and confidant, Gordon, his aunt, Betty, both of Drumheller, his uncle, Ellis (Isobel) and cousins in the Vancouver area, and a lifetime of friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, STARS, or the charity of one’s choice. Funeral services for Don will be held Friday, June 24, 2011, at 1:30 P.M. from the Morrin Community Hall. Interment to follow in the Morrin Cemetery. Luncheon will follow at the Morrin Community Hall. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Chapel are in care of the arrangements.
