John Brillinger (born November 17, 1950) passed away on November 21, 2008 in Drumheller, Alberta with Hazel, his loving wife of 34 years, by his side. He was 58. John was passionate about life and lived his life as large as he was. He was an avid baseball player, coach and was known to cook a mean chili! Heloved his family, animals and friends. John was a kind and gentle giant who touched the lives of many and was loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Hazel, mother Mary Brillinger, sisters Carol and Brenda and brother Bob and their families as well as numerous relatives and friends. He will also be missed by his “furry family”: Raven, Marley Bob, Virgil Caine, Lexi, Hawke, Silken and Bella. John is predeceased by his father Lennie Brillinger and his brother-in-law Gary Bigelow. A celebration of John’s life will be held on Friday November 28 at 3:30 pm at the Winston Heights Mountview Community Centre (520-27 Ave. NE, Calgary, AB). Casual attire is desired. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Drumheller & District Humane Society (PO Box 1474, Drumheller, AB, T0J 0Y0).          


Gibson: C. Edna   February 3, 1922 November 17, 2008  

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and our friend Edna Gibson. Edna passed away peacefully on November 17, 2008 after a short illness. Edna is lovingly remembered by her children Marilyn, Larry, Bill (Sheila), Pat (Tom), Jim (Wendy) and Allen; Doris and Bill Irving; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband Bill in 2004, her parents Marie and Jim Snell; Sister Irene Snell; Brother Russell Snell; and son-in-law Roy Hay. Throughout her life she consistently gave unselfishly and lovingly to her family and those around her. Her strength and spirit will endure in all she leaves behind. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those who knew her.  Special thanks to Dr. Miller, Dr. Khoza and staff at the Acute Care Unit, Drumheller Hospital for your kindness and compassionate care. Funeral Services were held at the Carbon Community Centre on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Wendy Galloway officiating.  Interment followed in the Carbon Cemetery. GOODISON: Edith May (Morrow)  

It is with great sadness that our family wishes to inform you of the passing of Edith May Goodison at the age of 64. Edith was born in Lethbridge Alberta on June 28, 1944 and passed away on November 21, 2008. She was predeceased by her parents, Burt and Alberta Saunders, her husband Patrick Goodison and Terry Morrow. She is survived by her family Teresa (Bruce) Brown, Tony Goodison, Rose Goodison (Foster), Mike Hoffman, Joey Goodison, John Goodison and their families including grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Ruby, Kathy, Florence and brother Art. May enjoyed visiting with family and friends, she also took great pride in knitting and crocheting. Graveside service on November 29 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to S.T.A.R.S.          


SILBERSTEIN: Esther 

Miss Esther Silberstein of Los Angeles, Califonia passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the age of 90 years, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born April 19, 1918 at Rumsey. Esther lived most of her adult life in Los Angeles, where she was a legal secretary until she retired at the age of 79. She is survived by two nephews, Norm (Deb) Silberstein of Trochu and David Silberstein of Drumheller. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
