GAUTHIER: Evelyn Grace
With great sadness the family of Grace Gauthier announce she passed away peacefully May 12, 2008. Grace was the daughter of Anna and Emanual Herman of Delia. She grew up on the farm and attended high school in Drumheller. Grace had many fond memories of farm life and then living in the dormitory to attend high school. She was a graduate of the Royal Alexandra Hospital School of Nursing in Edmonton and she treasured her affiliation there throughout her life. In 2007 Grace attended her 60th nursing reunion in Edmonton. She worked for a short time at the Colonel Belcher Veteran’s Hospital prior to her marriage to Charles (Chuck) Gauthier in 1948. Grace was predeceased by Chuck in 1993. She lived most of her life in Calgary but was always interested in the world and enjoyed travelling to many places as far away as Thailand. Home, family and friends were of the utmost importance to Grace. She spent most of her final days with visitors in her home and on the phone. Grace truly appreciated each and every visitor and was sincerely touched by the attention paid to her. Those who knew her have said they were inspired by her courage, determination and positive outlook. Grace will always be missed by her children; Sharon Gauthier of Calgary and Dr. Charles Gauthier (Karen Thomas) of Banff; her grandchildren Carissa (Schaane) Cameron of Tennessee, Lisa Wenger (Travis Lucier) of Airdrie and Kate Gauthier of Banff.; her great-grandchildren; Marquell, Hannah, Emma Joy, and Amaris Cameron; her brothers Albert (Anne) Herman and Don (Joan) Herman both of Drumheller, and many extended family and friends. The family wish to thank all those involved in Grace’s care especially Dr. Michelle Deyholos, Dr. Ghatage of the Tom Baker Center, Dr. Chu at Evergreen Acupuncture, Dr. Christine Perkins and each of their staff members. Also a special thanks to Janice, Krystal and Michelle of the palliative Home Care Team and everyone at Carewest Sarcee Hospice. HOWARD: Tanya (Kalbhen)
Tanya Howard (Kalbhen) passed away peacefully on May 15, 2008 at the age of 34. Tanya was born on April 30, 1974 and was raised in Rockyford. She attended Elementary and Junior-High in Rockyford, Alberta and graduated High-School in Standard, Alberta. While in High-School Tanya was activly involved in 4-H Beef and Sewing. Tanya was determined to save her money so she could attend college. She would take any job from working at a hog barn, babysitting to working in the local grocery store. Tanya received her Bachelors in Nursing from Red Deer College in 1997. Tanya always had a passion for helping others from a child to the day she left us. Tanya was always willing to accept new challenges. She completed her 6 month Nursing Practicum at Yellowknife. She began her nursing career at the Drumheller Hospital. After a few months of working, Tanya purchased her first home in Drumheller. After a few years Tanya decided to accept a new challenge by working at the Peter Lougheed in the Intensive Care Unit. Tanya found her way back to Drumheller to pursue her career and marry her love of her life, Darrin Howard. Tanya continued to work in Acute Care and the Health Unit in Drumheller. Tanya had a mischievous twinkle in her eye and a welcoming heart. She always would take time out of her day to make someone feel special and to listen. She always loved to joke and have fun and if you ever met Tanya you could not help but fall in love with her. Tanya’s love of her three children and family was very strong. Tanya is survived by her beloved husband of 8 years Darrin, three sons Joel, Matthew and Mitchell, mother and father (Bill and Linda Kalbhen), four siblings Margo (Mike), Warren (Tyla), Stacey (Shawn), Erica (Tyler), Grandma (Iris Ruzek), In-laws: Don and Carmen Howard, Wade (Cherie), Donalee (Jerry), Tammy, and many nieces and nephews and family members. Wherever Tanya went in life she was always winning the hearts of all. That was evident with the support her and her family received throughout her battle. Tanya was always determined to succeed no matter how big her dream was. Tanya was diagnosed with cancer 2 1/2 years ago which made her very passionate about bringing the Relay For Life to Drumheller.
