Dave leaves his loving wife, Margaret; daughters Catherine (Dale Sazwan), Janet (Bob Richardson), Wendy (Les Hilliard); grandchildren Tyler & Michelle Clark, John Sazwan (Courtney Kobylanski), Adam Sazwan (Shawna Streeper), Dawn Richardson (Ryan Peterson), Doug Richardson, Sarah Hilliard, Jeff Hilliard (Ashley Tarbox); brother Jim & Kris Kinniburgh; brother-in-law Francis & Leona Nicoll and sisters-in-law Reenee and Eileen Kinniburgh; numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, friends & caregivers. Dave was predeceased by his parents Edith & Carman; brother Percy (Marj); daughter Heather Kinniburgh; and in-laws Phoebe & Bob Nicoll. Dave loved people and many close relationships were cultivated as he volunteered and/or served as lay minister with the United Church (Central, Southminster & the Chinese United in Calgary, Third Avenue in North Battleford, Sask.; Airdrie, Delia, Craigmyle, Morrin and Irricana United). For a time (1964-74) Dave took over his family’s dairy farm east of Airdrie, then had a couple private businesses, and worked for Palliser Furniture. With retirement came some time to travel, to explore Canada from Dawson City to Halifax and throughout Alberta, keeping up with the family! It also allowed him time to putter in his garden, producing profuse crops of lupines, lilies, roses, fruits and vegetables. Suffering with Shy Drager Syndrome, Dave became a resident of long-term-care in the fall of 2003. We are grateful to those who tried to ensure his comfort, quality of life, and sense of purpose was maintained ‘til the end. Following a celebration of Dave’s life on Friday, June 6, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at Airdrie United Church (212 1st Avenue NE), there will be refreshments and ice cream served at Woodside 50+ Club (411 Woodside Drive). While Dave loved flowers, memorial donations made to Airdrie United Church, or the charity of your choice would be very much appreciated.
