With great sadness the family of Pamela Parliament announce her passing on June 4, 2008 in Calgary. Service will be held in Edmonton, AB at Neighbourhood Church, 5347 - 112 Ave. on Monday, June 16 at 2:00 p.m.
Schmidt: Irene
Irene Lily Schmidt was born August 19, 1933 in Wimborne, Alberta to John and Martha Fuchs, the fourth of five children. On May 23, 1954 in Torrington, Alberta she married Howard Donald Schmidt. During their loving 51-year marriage they resided in Calgary, Yahk, B.C., Countess, Alberta, Arrowwood Alberta, and finally Drumheller, Alberta in 1967. Irene was predeceased by her husband Howard in 2005, her daughter Beverly Doel in 2007, her brother Reuben Fuchs, brothers and sisters-in-law Newton Schmidt, Fred Schmidt, Mable Schmidt, Marge Fuchs and Harvey Emann. Irene is survived by her daughter Maureen, her son-in-law Clifford Doel, her grandson Allan (Shannon) Doel, and great-grandchildren Sylvia and Asli Jane. She is also survived by her brothers Albert (Lois) Fuchs, John (Kathleen) Fuchs, her sister Edna (Emery) Falat, her brothers and sisters-in-law Lily Fuchs, Beverly Schmidt, Patricia (Stan) Crooks and Betty (John) Fercko, along with numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service was held at the Drumheller Alliance Church on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Chapel entrusted with the arrangements. (403) 823-2666.
Semaka: Alexander June 1, 1914 - June 5, 2008
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our father at the age of ninety-one. He passed away peacefully in the acute care ward of the Drumheller Health Centre after a short battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marian Hamilton (1956), his second wife, Shirley Findlay (2002), his brother, Frank, sisters; Jean, Vicky and Mary. Left to cherish his memory are his children; Frank Semaka (Shirley), Marian Hildebrand (Edward), Margaret Skydt (Paul), Joan Beauchesne (Roland), Elaine Ewing (Fred), Richard Brock (Sheila), plus sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. He taught school in Drumheller for thirty-four years and was a part-time farmer. He was a fixture in the community with his daily walks across town. He loved the valley and was a fountain of knowledge about dinosaurs, fossils and dinosaur teeth.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. at the Knox United Church in Drumheller. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Drumheller Health Centre Foundation: Acute Care (351-9th street N.W., Drumheller, Alberta T0J 0Y1). SPILLER : Jeannine Morse
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jeannine Morse Spiller of Camrose on June 4, 2008 at the age of 79 years. Jeannine was born on September 20, 1928 in Hanna, Alberta where she was raised with her four siblings. Jeannine met her husband, Carl Ziegler, in Drumheller where they raised two boys, Gary Lee and Bryon Richard. After twenty-two years of marriage Jeannine and Carl were divorced. Jeannine eventually married Reginald Spiller and relocated to Camrose from Drumheller. Jeannine was an active member of the Royal Purple and Good Samaritans, enjoyed the Baptist Seniors group and the Saturday morning coffee / farmer’s market bunch, was a proficient bookkeeper, an excellent seamstress, an avid watcher of the Young & Restless soap opera, an Elvis Presley fan, a breast cancer survivor and a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Jeannine is survived by her son, Bryon Ziegler (Leona MacDougall) and her grandsons (Marshall Lee and Cody Allen) of Olds; her sister, Maureen Ternovoy and family of Red Deer; her brother, Leonard Morse and family of Drumheller. She is predeceased by her parents, George and Ottilla Morse; and two brothers, George and Ralph Morse. Jeannine was also predeceased by her eldest son, Gary in 1985; and her husband Reg in 2002.
Memorial services will take place at the Camrose United Church at 2 p.m. on June 11, 2008. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alberta Cancer Foundation for breast cancer research. Weber Funeral Home 672-3131.
