CALDER: John Andrew Sr. 1932 - 2008
CALDER, John Andrew Sr. passed away at the Foothills Hospital on July 18, 2008 at the age of 76 years. Jock will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Catherine of 56 years; children: Linda Schaber (David Schellenberg), John Calder (Denise), Pat Calder (Susan), Susan Ballendine (Scott), Karen Calder (Rob Brandley), Sandy Rautenberg (Craig) and Ron Calder (Theresa Herron); 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and sisters: Mary Jones, Vesta Guss and Doreen Mallory. Jock was born on February 1, 1932 in Wayne, Alberta. As a young man, he worked in the coal mines along side his father. At the age of 20 years, Jock met Catherine and they were married on June 21, 1952. They moved to Calgary in 1956 to raise their family. He worked for many years in the oil and gas industry. Jock had a passion for driving and at the age of 55 years, he began Jock’s Trucking, providing a service to the oil and gas companies in and surrounding the Calgary area. Being a family man and raising his 7 children gave him much enjoyment. He was a member of the Atlas Coal Mine Historical Society. Jock worked hard all his life and was very proud of his many accomplishments. The family would like to thank the staff at Aspen Lodge and the Foothills Hospital for their care and compassion. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend an evening of visitation at Mountain View Funeral Home on Thursday, July 24, 2008 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 10:00 am with interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. HYRN: Irene Loise (Adolph) December 8, 1925 - July 15, 2008
Born to Jacob and Anne Adolph in Saskatoon, Sask. Graduated from nursing school in Prince Albert, Sask. Married Andrew Hryn in 1949 and lived in Prince Albert until 1967 when they moved to Drumheller, Alberta. Irene is survived by two sons and one daughter: Don (Kathy) Hryn of Calgary, three granddaughters, Andrea, Samantha and Nicole; Rob Hryn of Brooks, AB and grandson Ryan; Anne (Dave) Pascut, three grandsons, Dave and great grandson Merrick, Mike (Emelyn), Gregg (Jamey); sister Isobel McAvoy of Saskatoon, Sask and her brother Dr. Jack (Rena) Adolph of Saskatoon. Siter-in-law Beth Bovay Adolph and brother-in-law Jack Newman. Irene was predeceased by her parents, husband Andy, brothers George and Bud Adolph, and sister Jean Newman, also many brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law. At Irene’s request there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
Offield: Louisa Shophie (nee Bossert) June 10, 1948 - July 13, 2008
Born in Drumheller to John and Ester Bossert on June 10, 1948. Lucy passed away suddenly in her home on July 13, 2008. She is survived by one sister, Laura Bossert and one brother Orvin (Judy) Bossert and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all. Funeral service will be held at the Drumheller Salvation Army Church on Monday July 28, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Drumheller Municipal Cemetery. Coffee and lunch will be held in the church hall, for a celebration of Lucy’s life. Love always, the Bossert family.
