Audy: Robert, Earl

Earl Robert Audy, of Drumheller and beloved husband of Beverly Audy, passed away on January 4, 2008 at the age of 72 years.  Bob was a son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, brother, in-law, nephew and amazing friend to many.  Bob was born in Drumheller on September 23, 1935 to his loving parents Lewis Gaudet Audy and Eith Audy, he was the second youngest of 11 children.  Bob and his wife Beverly were married on October 19, 1957.  In their 50 years of marriage they had three children of their own, Bobby (Elena), Rodney (Robbie), Shelly (Gino) who graced them with six beautiful grandchildren.  Bob is an ambassador of music, jokes, mischief and good times, he has taught us all how to love our families best.  Bob’s roots were firmly planted in Drumheller, he owned and operated a construction business for 22 years with his wife and sons.  We will remember you well, celebrate your life and miss you deeply! BIDINOFF: Leeta Violet

Leeta Violet Bidinoff passed away at the Drumheller Regional Heath Centre on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 after a short battle with cancer. Leeta was an exceptional person who shared her love, care and compassion with her family and many friends. she will be sorely missed by her remaining family; her son Bruce and wife Beverley Bidinoff of Osoyoos, BC and grandchildren, Dustin Wolchina of Drumheller and Gavin Wolchina of Calgary. she was predeceased by her daughter Judy and husband John. BOYKO: Barry Lynn

Mr. Barry Boyko of Drumheller, passed away in Edmonton on Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at the age of 58 years. Barry is survived by his wife Lil; two sons Kelly (Sharla) of Drumheller and Jaime of Drumheller; and two grandchildren Talyn and Kya.  Barry is also survived by his father Art Boyko of Camrose, brother Kevin Boyko (Michelle) of Camrose, and his sister Karin (Lee) Naslund of Camrose. Barry was predeceased by his mother Patricia, aunt Gussie, and uncle Henry. FRIELL:  BERYLE  (NEE STOKALKO)  March 13, 1946 – January 1, 2008

It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Beryle Friell on January 1, 2008 at the Foothills Hospital, Calgary.  Beryle was a loving and caring mother, daughter, sister and sister-in-law.  Beryle spent most of her early years in Rosedale and after graduating from high school in Drumheller, attended Mount Royal College.  Upon graduation, she proudly joined Shell Canada and was employed there for several years.  After the birth of her son, Tom, in 1970, she dedicated her life to being a full-time mother prior to spending 18 years with the Calgary School Board as a much loved and respected teacher’s aide.  In 2000, Beryle returned to the Drumheller Valley.  Beryle was very proud to become an employee of D.A.R.T.S. and so enjoyed the interaction with the staff and individuals she served.  In 2005, Beryle became a full-time caregiver to her mother.  Beryle’s family will be forever grateful for her incredible efforts in caring for our mother.  Beryle’s hard work in the yard yielded magnificent flower gardens for all to enjoy throughout the spring and summer months.  Beryle will always be remembered for her giving nature and the little lady with the huge heart. Beryle is survived by her son, Tom Friell, Calgary, mother, Sarah Stokalko, brother Dale (Carol) Stokalko, Edmonton, sister, Sherry Shewman, Ft. Meyers, Fl., brother Tom (Patsy) Stokalko.  “Auntie Beryle” will also be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. GROEN: Peternella, Nellie

Nellie Groan, formerly of carbon, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Drumheller hospital at the age of 87 years. An interment for Nellie’s urn to follow at a later date. HOUGHTON: William Edward (Ted)  October 5, 1914 – January 3, 2008.


Ted passed away peacefully on January 3, 2008 in Drumheller Continuing Care. He was born on October 5, 1914 in Paris, Ontario and moved to Alberta with his family in 1920. Ted was predeceased by his wife Clara of 55 years in 1991. He is also predeceased by two sisters, Freda Benusic and Stella Caweizel, and brother Gordon. Ted is survived by three brothers, Allan, Ivan and Vern. He is also survived by two sons, Jack (Lauretta), Nelson (Carol) and one daughter Dianne (Stan) Walker, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren. Ted farmed in the Rumsey area well into his 70’s. He supported all local functions in the area and was an avid donor to STARS. In 1996 Ted moved to Trochu and resided in the Senior Manors until 2002 when he moved into Drumheller Continuing Care. MORRISON: Gerald David  October 13, 1926 -  December 23, 2007

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of GERRY Morrison. Gerry was born in Calgary Alberta to Kathleen (Innes Gunn) and Charles Morrison. Gerry passed away peacefully in Comox, B.C. on Dec 23 2007 surrounded by family and friends. Gerry grew up in Calgary Alberta. The first job Gerry ever had was as a kid shovelling coal in his local church.  He then worked as a bicycle courier around the town of Calgary. After he left school he had a short stint in the Canadian armed forces armored tanks division. After he left the army Gerry began working at the Canadian Utilities Company. Gerry went from being a linesman and climbing power poles to a supervisory position. During his 33 years with the company Gerry lived in Hannah, Lloydminster, Stettler, and Vegreville Alberta. Gerry made close friends that are with him still, wherever he lived. After retiring Gerry moved to Comox, BC. Where he met his wife Bernice. Gerry and Bernice spent over 25 extraordinarily happy years together sailing, hiking, kayaking and square dancing for two decades as ‘ocean waves.’ They enjoy skiing, gardening and have traveled the world together. One of their many favorite vacation spots was Hawaii; another favorite of theirs was a month long holiday in Portugal. Gerry was an avid golfer, curler and dart player. They are members of the Comox Valley Horticultural Society where Gerry was a part of the social committee; he made the best tea and coffee! Gerry will be missed by his daughter Patricia Morrison-Wheeler (Wayne) and grandchildren Mitchell and Bronwyn. His son James Morrison (Mathilda) and grandchildren Elizabeth, Jennifer, Robert, Kathleen. Gerry will leave behind a void of emptiness in the life of his beloved wife Bernice Morrison, daughter Denise (Mike) and grandsons Jonathan and Nicholas Cook. Daughter Rhonda and grandchildren Christian and Coleton Flowers. Gerry will be missed by his many friends and family members. Sister-in-law, Jean Morrison. His niece Jo-ann (Gary) and their children Shannon, Robin, Jay. Nephew Doug (Linda). Other family members, including Barbara (Raymond) and Peggy. Gerry was a kind, caring and gentle man and loved by many friends and family. He very much appreciated the visits and support he received from his many friends. We would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Fitz for his care and compassion during Gerry’s illness. A thank you to home support, to the Provincial Respiratory Outreach Program, Comox Valley Hospice, G.F. Strong Hospital and A.L.S. Centre, the A.L.S. PATTERSON: Thomas Allan (Tom)  December 27, 1958 – January 1, 2008 

Tom Patterson of Rosebud, AB, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at the age of 49. Tom will be remembered by his parents Frank and Irene Patterson of Rosebud, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane and Garry Edwards of Calgary and Cindy and Ward Hum of Cochrane, grandmother Josie Hazelton of Calgary and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.  An Informal Gathering and Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, January 7,  2008 from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. POLAND:  Charles Gerald Dawson

Poland, Charles Gerald Dawson, B.Sc. Petroleum Engineering [U. of A.,1956], B. Ed. [after], P. Eng. Dad peacefully slipped away from us on January 3. Survived by his beloved wife Doris [Dory], and loving children Michael [Carol] and Patricia; he is the cherished grandfather of 4, Samantha, Travis, Rosamund and wee Bridget; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Gerry, as he was known to all, was born in Drumheller in April 1934 to Albert and Edith Poland; whose parents were homesteaders in the Hand Hills early in the last century. Gerry was predeceased by his parents, beloved son Doug, and siblings Jack and Betty. Dad had a long and varied career in the oil patch which book-ended 3 years as an educator in Calgary. He loved to ski, play golf, hike and camp, and swim as well as play his musical instruments [trumpet, alto sax, flugelhorn, clarinet and trombone] in various bands. Dory and he were snowbirds in Mesa, Arizona for over a decade and enjoyed other travels over the years. Dad also relished the annual Dawson clan reunions. Dad was a gentleman, had not an enemy in the world; how many can say that? The family would like to thank the caring and highly professional staff at the Colonel Belcher, especially Tecumseh House, for their stellar care of our Dad this past year.
