BURT: Jean Maria 1937 - 2007
Jean Maria Burt, beloved wife of Murray Burt, was born in Drumheller,
Alberta on October 21, 1937. After her courageous battle with cancer, Jean
passed away peacefully on May 11, 2007 at the age of 69 years, surrounded by her
loving family.
Jean will be dearly missed for her witty sense of humour, positive attitude and always giving. She was a “trooper” and a “fighter”, never giving up hope. She was an inspiration to her friends and family. Over the years Jean played ball, was an excellent bowler, enjoyed playing darts and cards, always had a crossword puzzle nearby and loved to cook and entertain. Her greatest passion was her love of golf. After her hole-in-one, there was no stopping her. She was a member of the Henderson Lake Golf Club for many years. Another passion of hers over the years was her involvement with the Order Of Royal Purple (Past Honoured Royal Lady). For six months, of each year, for past 15 years, Murray and Jean were known as Snowbirds, her favourite places to live other than Lethbridge were: Mazatlan, Mexcio; Yuma, AZ; and Las Vegas, NV, meeting many friends through the years with her fun-loving personality.
Besides Murray, her loving husband and friend for over 49 years, Jean is survived by her three daughters Linda (Jimmy) Pote, June (Ewan) MacFarlane, Debbie (Mike) Handsaeme; seven grandchildren Scott MacFarlane of Edinburgh, Scotland, Jennifer MacFarlane of Calgary, Richard (Heather) Handsaeme, Kriss (Phil) Guenter, Rose Anne (Eric) Payne, Kathryn Peterson and James Pote; four great-grandchildren Paris, Bree, Sheridan and Saydee; two sisters Stella (Ivor) LaMarsh of Calgary, and Susan Lennstrom of Drumheller; two sisters-in-law Joyce (Cliff) Wenger of Vernon, B.C. and Helen (Ken) Harris of Palm Springs, CA and brother-in-law Bob Brown of Red Deer.
