CALON: Charlie
Charles Stephen Calon, of Drumheller, passed away on February 20,
2007 at the age of 78 in the Red Deer Hospital. He was predeceased by his mother
Celestine, his father, Edward, his brothers George and Joe, his sister Mary, his
brothers in law Don and Ray, and his sisters in law Louise and Jean. He is
survived by his sisters Anne Milne and Celestine Harvey, his brothers Ed, Frank,
Paul and numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie lived his life on and around the
family farm in the Verdant Valley area. He excelled at being an uncle to his
nieces and nephews who came to visit or to work with him on the farm. He enjoyed
the company of his many pets including his cats, dogs and cattle. He loved a
good argument, had a good sense of humor and was a character till the end. His
family will miss him. A Funeral Mass was held Saturday, February 24, 2007 at St.
Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in Drumheller.

CARRUTHERS: Phyllis May (Peggy)
On Sunday, February 25, 2007, after a full and active life, Peggy
quietly passed away in her 91st year. Beloved mother of Darlene (John) Caron of
Guelph, ON, Phyllis (Herman) Nygaard of Gabriola Island, BC, Doug (Penny)
Carruthers of Edmonton, and Bill Carruthers (Trish) of Munson. She was an
inspiration to her nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Peggy will
also be sadly missed by her sister Gertrude Carlson of Vancouver, and
daughter-in-law Myrna Carruthers of Calgary, as well as her extended family, and
many, many friends at Sunshine Lodge and beyond. Pre-deceased by husband Floyd
T. Carruthers, parents William and Fanny Taylor, and sisters Cecily Hopkins and
Gwendolyn (Billie) Flett. Peggy was born in Arnold, Notts., England, came to the
area at age two, and went on to become an active sportswoman, golfer,
hairdresser and community volunteer. Peggy’s legacy of selfless service included
Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi and St. Magloire’s Anglican Church. Her
contributions to the community were honoured when she was named Woman of the
Year in 1975. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Peggy Carruthers will
be held at St. Magloire’s Anglican Church, 176 2nd Street West, Drumheller,
Saturday, March 3, 2007 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a
donation to St. Magloire’s Church or the Kidney Foundation of Canada in Peggy’s
memory.

EUCLIDE: Regnier
Euclide Regnier, aged 81, beloved husband of Agnes for 60 years,
passed away in Trail, B.C. on Monday, February 19, 2007. Leaving to mourn seven
children including Anita (Phil) Shandera of Calgary, Morris, Robert, Carol,
Donna, Howard and Dennis; 11 grandchildren including Nathan (Tanya) Shandera of
Drumheller, Natalie Shandera and Nancy Shandera of Calgary. Also survived by
three great-grandchildren, Samantha and Philip Jr. of Drumheller, and Austin of
Calgary. Funeral services were held February 23, 2007 in Trail, B.C.
