GUPPY: Margaret Edith 1908 - 2007
Margaret Edith Guppy passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 2,
2007 at the Drumheller Health Centre Continuing Care at the age of 99 years.
Edith was born on June 28, 1908 in Regina, SK to James and Emma Stevens. She and
her family moved to Drumheller about 1947, when her husband, Al, became Works
Superintendent for the then City of Drumheller.
Edith is survived by her son, John (Edna Mae) Guppy of St. Albert, their children Robert (Rhonda) and grandchildren, Dailey and Kristen; Russell (Emily) and grandson, Joshua; and Jodi (Jamie Hodgson) and grandchildren Jimmy and Jena. She is also survived by Richard’s daughter, Charlene. Edith was predeceased by her husband, Albert, in 1978 and their son, Richard. She was the second of seven children and the last to pass: Ormie, Lloyd, Roy, Tom (Clifford), Merle and Jean.
She was a nursing attendant and worked at the Drumheller
General Hospital for many years. In her spare time she loved to do cross-stitch.
Edith was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter No.
55. She also worked hard for her church, being involved in Anglican Church Women
and The Altar Guild. Following a private family internment at the Drumheller
Cemetery, the funeral will take place at St. Magloire’s Anglican Church at 11
a.m. on Friday, August 10.
