COOK: Eleanor (Ellie)  1949 - 2007

Ellie passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at the age of 58. She left us after succumbing to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on July 25. She is survived and deeply missed by her soul-mate, Harold King, and many friends in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Also left to mourn are two brothers, one sister, one daughter and her partner, all living in Ontario. A memorial was held in Calgary, AB on July 31, 2007. Because of Ellie’s love of her animals, if so desired, a memorial donation may be made to your local SPCA in Ellie’s memory.

SHARPE: Ellen  1914 - 2007

We are saddened to announce the passing of our mother Rebecca “Ellen” Sharpe on August 14, 2007 at the Sunshine Lodge, Drumheller, Alberta. Ellen was born at Munson, Alberta on January 13, 1914 where she lived all of her life. Ellen led the Explorers, C.G.I.T. and was the past president and member of United Church Women for over 65 years. She was predeceased by her husband Rod in 1998 and daughter Loretta in 1942. She is survived by one daughter; Janet (Paul) Benedictson of Strathmore, three sons; Rick (Anna) Sharpe of Drumheller, George (Heather) Sharpe of Munson, Doug Sharpe (Sharon Aldcroft) of Vernon, BC; 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Flora Nelson of Ridgeway, Ontario, Violet Cheslak of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. A Celebration of Life service was held from the Morrin United Church on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at 2:30 P.M. with Reverend Mary Ellen Moore officiating. A family interment was held at the Munson Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Sunshine Lodge Fund in memory of Ellen Sharpe. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Chapel entrusted with the arrangements. VOLNEY: John Paul (J.P.)  April 25, 1932 - August 16, 2007

On August 16, 2007, John Volney passed away in his sleep, in the Red Deer Hospital, after a courageous struggle with cancer. John was predeceased by his wife Anne and sister Stephine. He is survived by his brothers Tony (Jean) and Joe, and by his sons Terry (Linda) and Allan (Delphine) and his grandchildren Teresa, Candice and Jason, and step-grandkids Jason and Steven; a large number of nieces and nephews and friends who all need a special place in his heart. At John’s request, a cremation will take place and no formal funeral service will be held. There will be a celebration of his life, on September 8, 2007 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Midland Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alberta Cancer Foundation c/o Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Ave., Edmonton, AB T6G 1Z2.
