HILBORN: Robert Henry (Bob) 1930 - 2006
Bob passed away in peace at home Saturday, September 9, 2006 after a
two-year battle with cancer. Bob was born in Saskatoon, SK in 1930, grew up in
Drumheller, AB and moved to the Comox Valley, B.C., in 1978. He was a past
member of the Drumheller Sea Cadets, a former Cub Scout leader, and member of
Toastmasters International and Canadian Power Squadron. He was chairman of the
Union Bay Improvement District for several years and always took a great
interest in the community in which he lived. Bob leaves behind his beloved wife,
Kay, his children, David and Michael (Widmer), Deborah (Peter) Struk, Daniel,
Danita (Mark) Jenken, Robert, Rodney, and Carol and stepsons Alan (Lonna), and
Craig (Sandra) Rautenberg, brother Rick (Kathy) and sister Carol. He also leaves
behind seven grandchildren, Jesse, Amy, Jacob, Krystal, Christine, Erin, and
Christian. He was predeceased by his parents, Ruth and Roy, and his sister Gerry
(Bob Hawkins). Bob will be sadly missed by all who knew him. There was no
funeral by request. Donations may be made in Bob’s name to the Drumheller Fire
Dept., Christ the King Catholic Church in Courtenay, B.C., or to the B.C. Cancer
Agency.
