ASK: Orval James 1920-2006
Of Drumheller passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side, in the
Drumheller Hospital, November 24, 2006, at the age of 86. He leaves to mourn his
loving wife Mary Ask, 3 children, Valerie (Lorne) Davis, Allan, and Deborah
(Lorne) McLean, 4 sisters Ruth, Angeline, Alice and Ella (Gordon) and 1 brother
Lorne (Anne), 4 Granddaughters Crystal, Miranda, Emily and Victoria-2 Great-
grandchildren Nolan Florence and Haylee Florence who was born on November 25,
2006, plus numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Orval was born in Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan on June 7, 1920.
Orval was predeceased by his Father (Dofel) and Mother (Julia), his sister Viola and brothers, Vernon, Willis, Allan, Mervin and Lowell. Orval was in the Canadian Army Corps Signals serving in WW II from 1942 – 1946. Orval married in 1948. Orval worked for Canadian Utilities (Alberta Power) as a lineman in Lloydminster, Empress and Drumheller from 1948 until he retired in 1982. Orval enjoyed woodworking in his retirement, making oak furniture for home, family, and friends, including numerous pieces for the Grace Lutheran Church. He was very proud of his family generously helping in any way he could. Orval also supported foster children all over the world for 35 years. Funeral services to be held at the Grace Lutheran Church on Friday, December 1st at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tom Baker Cancer Center or the charity of your choice. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
