COSENS: Ernest Vance  1924 - 2006

Ernest Vance Cosens, 81, of Pasco, passed away April 12, 2006, at Kadlec Medical Centre in Richland. He was born September 28, 1924, in Portland, Ore.

He was raised in Munson, Alberta, Canada, on the family wheat farm homestead and attended school in a one-room schoolhouse. After joining the Air Force, he pursued a career as a jet mechanic, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant, the highest rank for a  non-com. Ernest enjoyed his travels in the Air Force, especially the six years he spent in Europe. He served with occupation forces in Germany after WWII, and at Da Nang Air Force Base in Vietnam during the 70's. Ernest was very proud of his family and is survived by his wife, Luella Cosens; daughter Cindy Zemblowski and husband Andrew; granddaughter Jessica Zemblowski; sisters Lavinna Edwards and Beverly Buchwald. Graveside services were held at 1:00 PM.Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Richland. Visitation was held Monday the 17th  from 5:00 PM. to 8:00 PM. at Einan's Funeral Home. LAVINE: Patrick Norman

Patrick Norman Lavine, 37, passed away suddenly in his home in Drumheller. Since his truck accident in 2001 which left him a paraplegic, he suffered
continuous debilitating pain which he heroically hid from most who knew him. Pat attended school in Drumheller from grade one to nine then moved to
Brooks to finish his high school. During his years in Drumheller he attended Cub Scouts, became an excellent swimmer, played Little League Baseball, soccer and hockey.

Pat had legions of friends and family and leaves to mourn his passing his beloved son Jesse; his mom Caryl; brother Pete (Cindi); his sisters Debbie (Brian) Lanigan and Christine; nephews Logan and Dylan; nieces Vanissa, Alyia and Stephanie; maternal grandmother Ida Haahr; and uncle Jerry Haahr (Virginia); and several cousins. Special mention goes to his devoted companion of eight years, Carrie Rowe, and all of her family who all loved Pat dearly. Pat was predeceased by his father Peter in 2002 and his uncle Jack Haahr in 2001. A celebration of Pat's love and life will be held in the Rosedale Hall on Thursday, May 4 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to S.T.A.R.S. Ambulance and/or the Canadian Paraplegic Association.

PEAKE: Marie Rimmer Patterson  1911 - 2006

Marie was born July 26, 1911 in Mrs. Brown's Nursing Home in Calgary, she went to live in Christ on April 29, 2006. Marie was raised at The Big Rock Farm in Okotoks. She attended Big Rock School in her early years and completed her education at Sacred Heart Convent in Calgary. After her education, Marie returned to The Big Rock Farm where she was described by her father as łThe best hand he ever had˛. Marie loved to ride and always attended the Millarville Races where she rode and won several Ladies races. She cooked on several ranches, including the OH Ranch at Longview, 2 Dot at Nanton, Bar U at High River, Bar C at Cochrane and for Ole and Edith Willard at Milo. Marie lived her life with total committment to the land, her horses and cattle, all of which she loved dearly. In Red Deer on December 6, 1971, Marie married Tom Peake of the Flying U Ranch at Dorothy. They ranched there for many happy years before retiring to Drumheller in 1996. After 28 years of love and devotion, Tom passed away in 1999.

Marie is survived by her daughter Lynn Paige (Richard) of Didsbury and her son Gordon J. Patterson (Jackie) of Tucson. Marie was a loving grandmother to Holly Patterson of Tucson, Dr. Jodi Patterson Ph.D of San Diego, Shannon Ellenton (Brent) of DeWinton and Rob Gabert of Calgary.
Marie was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Mildred and Gerald Gough of Okotoks who gave her guidance and unconditional love throughout their lifetimes. She was also predeceased by her sister Celia of Wenatchee and her brother Frank of Calgary. She leaves to mourn her loss, two sisters: Theresa Ballard of Red Deer and Josephine Bews of Longview along with a number of nieces and nephews. Heartfelt gratitude from the Patterson Family is extended to Sandra Kohut for her devotion, steadfast dedication and love in the care of Marie over the past eight years.

Prayers will be held Friday, May 12, 2006 at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 10:30 AM. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Drumheller with lunch to follow. The graveside service will follow at Marie's final resting place at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Okotoks at
3:30 PM. Donations may be sent to the charity of one's choice.
