HOFF: Wayne   July 15, 1950 - March 26, 2006

Wayne L. Hoff was born on July 25, 1950 in Calgary, Alberta and passed away at home peacefully on March 26, 2006. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Verna; and their son Shane and wife Shanon; daughter Brenda; daughter Melissa and husband Layton Rosin; three grandchildren, Cassidie, Lane and Taylor. Wayne is also survived by his parents, Otto and Norma Hoff; sister Sandra (Jerome); brother Randy; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. Wayne attended school in Levelland from grades one to nine. In Levelland he made many friends and happy memories. He attended Carbon School briefly and then went to Bertram Drilling for a season. On October 11, 1969, Wayne married Verna Hagel from Beiseker, Alberta. Wayne and Verna began farming in the Carbon area the following spring. There they established their roots and raised their family.

Some of Wayne's most enjoyable summers were when he was racing his pony chuckwagon. He was very proud the first season because he was rookie of the year. He took great pride in running very competitively for many years. The highlight of his career was when he was able to drive a chuckwagon in Houston, Texas at the Astrodome. He loved those days. Wayne then decided to expand his second love of farming which he also took pride in. Due to health reasons he had to give up his love for farming in the late 90's and had to retire. Now he was able to devote his time and fun loving energy to his wife, kids, grandkids and everyone else who knew him. We could always count on him for advice, honesty and integrity and will never forget his fun-loving, witty ways. Wayne is a legacy in our family and we know he has touched many other people's lives. There will always be a piece of him in all of us. He will be greatly missed and always remembered!

A memorial service was held at the Carbon Baptist Church, March 30, 2006, with Harold Hunter and Pastor Richard Kauenhofen officiating. Courtney-Winterıs Funeral Home were in care of all the arrangements. If friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Wayne Hoff to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of their choice.
