Szarmes: Alyson Theresa (nee Gutwald)
Alyson Theresa Szarmes (nee Gutwald) has passed on to her heavenly Father at the
age of 40. She leaves to mourn her loss, her parents Ralph and Patricia of
Midland, Drumheller. She will forever be in the hearts, minds and souls of
Michael and their beautiful daughters Meghan and Alyssa. Alyson was a dear and
loving sister to her siblings Mark (Dixie), Stephen, Tyler and Danielle Gutwald
(Calgary); Craig (Judy), Candice, Rachel and Timothy Gutwald (Castlegar, B.C.);
Catherine (Pat), Matthew and Joel Bonneville (Ottawa, ON); Shelley (Dale) and
Colin Bergman (Calgary); and Licia (Steve), Brenon and Juleya Pickup (Calgary).
Alyson was born and raised in Drumheller, having attended St. Anthony's and the
Drumheller Composite High School where her father was a teacher for over 30
years. She graduated from the Foothills School of Nursing in 1987, achieving the
highest academic marks for which she received a scholarship. She was
valedictorian at her graduation ceremonies. Alyson was a gifted literary person,
a great cook, loved the outdoors, camping and hiking, and above all was a
humanitarian without bounds. She gave of herself to all who were in pain of
whatever nature, and nurtured the elderly and feeble with unquestioning
dedication and love. She brought joy and love to all who knew her, all of whom
will never forget her indredible sense of humour and contagious laughter. She
was precious! An angel in our midst! She is now with her angels, as well as her
maternal grandparents Ralph and Helen Fraser of Edmonton, and her paternal
grandparents Eduard and Aloisia of Germany. They must all be rejoicing in her
presence. God bless our special child. A memorial service in celebration of her
life will be held on Friday, May 20, 2005 at 1 p.m. in Calgary, at the Fosteršs
Garden Chapel Funeral Home, 3220 - 4th St. N.W.
