Peacock: Lauretta Hayes April 15, 1907 -
February 15, 2005
With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved sister and aunt,
Lauretta Peacock, in Medicine Hat, Alberta on February 15, 2005 at the age of
97. Lauretta was predeceased by her mother and father, Della and Ernest Peacock,
her aunt Alice Hayes, her brother-in-law Clarence Wilson, her sister and
brother-in-law Frances and Lawrence Morton, and her nephew Harold Wilson. She
will be greatly missed by her loving sister, Gladys Wilson and her nephew Frank
(Eunice) Wilson, her nieces Darlene (Chuck) Schmaltz, Barbara (Leo) Pagé, Brenda
Thomas, Laverne Foran, Anita (Rob) Tetz, nephews Merle (Irene) Morton, Larry
Morton, Murray (Diane) Morton, plus numerous great nieces and nephews. Funeral
services were held on February 22, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the Delia United Church
with Reverend Travis Cannaday officating. A private family burial was held at
the Delia Cemetery. A time of fellowship was held in the Delia Community Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke
Foundation or the charity of onešs choice. Courtney-Winter's Funeral Home were
entrusted with the arrangements, 823-2666.

Zachariassen: Raymond W. 1921 - 2005
Ray Zachariassen of Rosebud, AB, beloved husband of Phyllis, passed away March
4, 2005, in Strathmore Hospital after a brief struggle with lung cancer. Ray was
loved and respected, and will be remembered always, by his five children, their
spouses and his six grandchildren: Donna, Calgary; Roy, Laurie, Kayla and
Courtney, Chestermere; Richard and Helen, Rosebud; Judy, John and Matthew
(McKee), Calgary; and Linda, Andy, Daniel, Sara and Liam (Wong), Yellowknife.
Ray will also be lovingly remembered by his sister, Ruth Colbert, Hanna; his
sister-in-law, Rose Edgar, Innisfail; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law,
Wayne and Iris Dresser, Carbon; his many nieces and nephews; and family in
Norway. Friends and neighbours, especially those in the 'coffee club', will miss
his presence. Ray was born November 1, 1921 in Youngstown, AB, the fourth child
of Erik and Ingeborg Zachariassen, Norwegian immigrants. He grew up in Stanmore,
AB,and, in 1944, moved west to work in the Carbon/Rockyford area, where he also
enjoyed playing on the local baseball and hockey teams. Ray and Phyllis (nee
Dresser) were married February 3, 1950, and started farming in the
Redland/Rosebud area. Ray was active in the local Lions Club, and enjoyed
curling and golf. In 1977, Ray was elected as a councillor in the County of
Wheatland No. 16. He served on council for 15 years, three of them as reeve. Ray
retired as a councillor in 1992, but never retired from farming - he helped
Richard with the harvest in the fall of 2004. Ray was predeceased by his sister
and brother-in-law, Chris and Harry Price, Red Deer; his brother, Hans
Zachariassen, Hanna; and his brothers-in-law, Mac Colbert, Hanna, and Bill
Edgar, Innisfail. Ray's family would like to thank the doctors and nurses who
cared for him during his illness - the staff at the Peter Lougheed Centre; the
staff at the Foothills Medical Centre in Emergency and on Unit 37; and the staff
at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, especially Meina. Thank you to Dr. Fanning and
to the staff at the Strathmore Hospital - the nurses, especially, whose skill
and kindness in caring for Ray, and his family, are so appreciated. A
celebration of Rayšs life will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral
Home on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 4 p.m. If friends so desire, a memorial
donation may be made in Rayšs name to a charity of onešs choice. To e-mail

Ziegler: Jane Ann 1931 - 2005
Jane Anne Ziegler of Drumheller passed away on March 3, 2005 at the age of 73
years. Jane was born May 21, 1931 in Drumheller, and raised in the community.
She resided in Vancouver for many years where she was an active member of the
Army and Navy Club. After leaving Vancouver, she resided in Calgary for many
years prior to moving back to Drumheller. She will be sadly missed by all her
family and numerous friends. Jane was predeceased by her companion Nelson
McFarlane in 2004, by her mother Grace Terris, sisters Ethel Boughton and Lynda
Brennan. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service was
held Monday, March 7, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Courtney-Winter's Funeral Home with
Pastor Dan Hendrickson officiating. Donations in Jane's memory may be made to
