Black: Laurene Christina  1924 - 2004

Laurene Christina Black was born in Eureka, South Dakota, USA, on August 18, 1924. She was the eighteenth of nineteen children born to Christian and Christina Bertsch. Her family moved to the Carbon area in 1929 where they farmed. Laurene attended the Humbolt School and Zion Baptist Church. She accepted Christ at an early age and was later baptized on her brother-in-law Art Forsch's property.

In 1947 she moved with her mother and 3 siblings to Drumheller where soon after they began attending First Regular (now Fellowship) Baptist Church.

In 1951 she married Roy Blehm and they had four sons together, but Roy died in 1962. In 1964 Laurene married Lawrence Black and gained a daughter, Faith.

Laurene is survived by her husband Lawrence, one daughter and son-in-law Faith and Harry Wilnechenko of Red Deer, and four sons and daughters-in-law: Lyle and Gwen of Edmonton, Dwain and Diane of Winfield, BC, Rod and Donna of Three Hills, and Neal and June of Campbell River. She has 16 grandchildren: Yvonne (Syd), Lynne, Heather, Shawna, Darryl (Carolyn), Vicki, Kevin (Myriam), Michelle (Ryan), Christina, Shane, Stephen, Cameron, Emma, Graham, Stephanie and Mindy; and four great-grandchildren: Amber, Ashley, Isaac and Caileb. She is also survived by her sisters Esther Bertsch, Tillie Siebel and Irene Bertsch.

On October 20, 2004 Laurene Black passed away and went home to be with her Lord. Her family happily rises up to call her Blessed. The family especially wishes to express its appreciation and thanks to Dr. J.F. Neffgin, Dr. Mark Lyle and the staff of the Drumheller Hospital for their kind help and service. Donations in her memory can be made to the Heart to Heart Society, care of the Drumheller Hospital. A memorial service was held at Fellowship Baptist Church on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at 11 a.m.

Chambers: Margaret Jeanette  May 13, 1920 - October 22, 2004

Margaret Jeanette Chambers passed away peacefully at the Drumheller Hospital on October 22, 2004 at the age of 84 years. She was born on May 13, 1920 in Drumheller and lived her whole life in Verdant Valley, Drumheller and Morrin districts.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1988. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her family and friends. She leaves to mourn her passing three sons and two daughters: Mick (Margaret) of Morrin, Jeanette Sutherland (Jim) of Altanta Georgia, Carol Kashuba (Stephen) of Rumsey, Bob (Cathy) of Morrin and Dennis (Debbie) of San Diego, California. She was dearly loved by her 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Dorothy Diprose (Bob) of Stettler, Alberta, one brother Dean Wallace (Lois) of Vancouver, BC and in-laws Dorothy Hetherington of Munson, Evelyn Hampton of Red Deer, Phyllis Dolezsar of Langley, BC, Dolline Good of Calgary and Darrel Chambers (Rose) of Duncan BC and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Morrin Community Hall at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 27, 2004. If so desired, donations in lieu of flowers can be made to The Sunshine Lodge. Courtney-Winteršs Funeral Chapel entrusted with the arrangements. 403-823-2666.

Dufloth: Barbara  March 1, 1917 - October 23, 2004

With great sadness we share the loss of our mother. Barbara Dufloth daughter of the late Henry and Rosina Holwegner, was born in Etzikom, Alberta. March 1, 1917. She passed away peacefully with her family and Pastor Plant at her side October 23, 2004, 12:30 am in the Drumheller Regional Health Complex.

Mother was predeceased by her husband Ted Dufloth and her daughter Violet Wattenbarger. In loving memory she will be missed by three sons and one daughter. Also to mourn her memory are her friends at the Pioneer Centre where she was active in their bowling league. Always with a positive outlook no matter what the score. Her talent for making everyone feel they were special will forever be missed by her many friends and especially her family. We love you Mom. McIlwrick: Lena  1912 - 2003

Lena was born in Binscarth, Manitoba, on April 11, 1912. She married John McIlwrick and together they farmed in the Rutland, Saskatchewan district. Predeceased by John, on May 14, 1982, she is survived by the following: Lenašs first child Maurice (Phyllis), grandson Len McIlwrick (Dawn), granddaughter Brenda Blain (R.C.M.P. Consable Les Blain), great grandchildren Melissa, Logan, and Zachary. Grandson Dale McIlwrick MBA (Connie), great grandchildren Nicola, Samantha, and Matthew. Granddaughter Karin Kinney (Troy), great grandchildren Korbin, and Alyssa. Lena's second child Shirlie Ursu (Joe), granddaughter Ronda Jessop, great granddaughter Brittney, granddaughter Audrey Gottfried (Darwin), great grandchildren Sarah, Adam, and Rebecca. Lena's third child Charles McIlwrick (Gail), granddaughters Dr. Joann McIlwrick MD, FRCPC (Dr. Cory Toth MD, FRCPC), and author Jackie Johnson (McIlwrick) cert. HR. Admin. The location of Lenašs

Parsons: Ronald Oliver  1941 - 2004

Ronald Parsons of Drumheller, AB was found deceased in his home on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at the age of 62 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of thirty years Joan Parsons; together with their three daughters and families, Vickie and Timothy Ulph of Calgary, Chris and Roger Walters of Portland, OR, and Tammie and Wayne Collins of Simcoe, ON.  He will also be greatly missed by his nine grandchildren, Sarah, David, Erin and Aimee Walters, Shannon, Amanda and William Collins, and Moody and Maha (Daffalla) Ulph; as well as his brother, sisters and other relatives and friends. Powell: Michael  1917 - 2004

Mike Powell, beloved husband of Jeanette Powell, of Taber, passed away at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Friday, October 15, 2004 at the age of 87 years.  Mike was born in Taber on July 28, 1917 where he was raised and educated.  On March 1, 1941, he married Jeanette Carley.  For a number of years, Mike farmed in the summer and worked for the Town of Taber during the winter months at the skating rink and later was employed by McDonald Chev Olds.  Mike also served on Taber Town Council for 21 years.  He was an avid pin collector.  Besides his loving wife Jeanette, Mike is survived by his three children, Judy (Jerry) of Drumheller, Patricia Powell and David (Shurron) Powell all of Taber; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brothers John Korsa and George (Carol) Korsa; by his sisters Ann Allen, Mary Peterson and Helen Peterson; his sister-in-law Olga Powell as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Mike was predeceased by his parents and by his brothers George, William and Alex.  Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, October 18, 2004 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.  The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at 2 p.m.   with Reverend Jim Lockhead officiating. Stanger: Donald Norman  1952 - 2004

Donald Norman Stanger of Munson, Alberta died suddenly October 19, 2004, doing the work he loved. He was born in Drumheller on September 7, 1952, the eldest son of Ron and Marie Stanger.  Don spent his early years in Munson and Drumheller and later attended SAIT where he received his Interprovincial License as an Automotive Mechanic He worked at various dealerships over the years including John Deere in both Drumheller and Hanna, but his real passion was for farming.  He married his best friend Linda Willson in February, 1976 and from then farming and family became his life.Don was a member of the Drumheller Lions Club, a leader in the 4-H Lamb Club, and was actively involved in minor hockey as a supportive dad and coach both in Drumheller and Calgary.  He played recreational hockey, loved waterskiing, was an avid NASCAR fan and loved vacationing with family and friends. Don is survived by his loving wife Linda, their children Jennifer, Darci, and Aaron, his father Ronald Stanger, brother David (Angie), sister Jeannette, and brother-in-law Jim (Veronica) Willson, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Don was predeceased by his mother Marie in 1997. As a husband, father and friend, There could be no one better. So committed, faithful and true, An inspiration to each of us. We will miss you dearly until Wešre together again. We love you, Your family and friends.
