Best: Arlene Helen (nee Dyck)  1932 - 2004

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Arlene, passed away on May 16th at the Drumheller Hospital. Arlene was born at Herbert, Sask. on May 30th to David and Katherine Dyck. She married Douglas Best on October 26, 1952 and was blessed with five children, survived by four: Paige (Lyle) Young {Natasha & Jeremy} of Calgary; Berewin (Marilou) Best {Nickolas (Sandra) & Kristen} of Carbon; Penny Best (Elmer Paproski) {Sonja (Adrian) Slager & Chris (April) Godthjaelspen} of Edmonton; Keith (Wanda) Best {Brandi & Shane} of Nanaimo, BC. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Lisa, Dawson, Darcy, Tristen & Tamara Slager, Donovan & Joshua Godthjaelpsen, and Braden Best. As well as her bothers and sisters: Alfred (Susan) Dyck, Johnny (Edna) Dyck, Alvina Funk, Herb (Nettie) Dyck, Caroline (Bill) Reimer and Donald (Lenora) Dyck and many neices and nephews. Arlene is predeased by her husband, Doug, in November 1994, her son, Gerald, in July 1977.  As well as her parents and brothers: Irvin, Clarence, Verchel and Harold. Funeral services will be held at the United Church on Aberdeen Avenue in Carbon, AB, on Wednesday, May 19th at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Rhonda Pigott officiating.  Luncheon to follow. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Courtney-Winters Funeral Chapel.  Donations may be made in memory of Arlene to the Carbon United Church in lieu of flowers. The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to Arlene's sister-in-law, friend and Yatzee partner, Maxine Reznechenko, for her tireless efforts and support.
