Petrie: Hilda  1920 - 2004

Hilda Petrie of Midlandvale passed away peacefully at the Extended Care Unit of Drumheller Hospital on Friday, February 27 at the age of 83.  Hilda was predeceased by her husband Karl, who passed away in 1978. Hilda is survived by six children:  Doreen and (Sandy Cummings), their boys Michael and Jason of Cochrane, Elsie and (Ed Ferguson), their daughters Cindy and Carrie, Barb Petrie, her daughter Mariah, John and (Kathy) Petrie, their boys Jonathan and Addison of Brooks, Robert and (Laurie) Petrie, their children Clayton and Jade of Red Deer, and Glen and (Tara) Petrie, their boys Tyler and Jake of Drumheller. Funeral services were held from the Courtney-Winteršs Funeral Chapel in Drumheller on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at 2 p.m. If friends wish to make memorial tributes, they may be made to the Extended Care Unit of the Drumheller Hospital. The Petrie family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Vacy-Lyle and all of the staff at the Extended Care Unit for their loving care and attention they gave our mother for the past 15 years. Stroukel: Clarence Rudolph   1932 - 2004

Mr. Clarence Rudolph Strouckel passed away in Rosebud, AB on February 29, 2004 at the age of 72 years.  Clarence was born on February 25, 1932 in Schuler, AB.  In 1946 Clarence moved with his parents to the Rosebud area where he lived and farmed until his passing.  Clarence was an Honorary Life member of the Rockyford Knights of Columbus and a 40 year member of the Rosebud Lions Club.  He leaves to mourn his passing, two sister; Phyllis (Albert) Nadon of Edmonton, Frances Strouckel of Rosebud, one nephew; Lionel, and one niece; Heather (Pierre) Rouleau, two great nieces; Sophie and Charlotte; two uncles Victor (Mary) Lang, Julian (Jean) Lang and numerous cousins.  Clarence was predeceased by his parents; Karolina and Joseph as well as 3 brothers; Joe, Frank and Victor. Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at 7:30 P.M. from St. Ritašs Roman Catholic Church.  Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. from St. Ritašs Roman Catholic Church with Father Dariusz Krzysztalowicz presiding.  Interment to follow at St. Rita's Cemetery in Rockyford.  If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1825 Park Road S.E., Calgary, AB  T2G 3Y6. Westnedge: Valerie Anne (nee Charlebois)

Of Qualicum Beach,  born June 10, 1946 in Drumheller, Alberta. Passed away peacefully February 24, 2004 with family by her side.

Val was raised in Carbon, Alberta by Dorothe and Bertram Charlebois.  She trained as a school teacher and taught in the Northwest Territories where she met her future husband, John.  On July 18, 1970 she married her best friend John Westnedge and courageously went on to become the mother of seven. She is survived by her loving husband John; her mother Dorothe; children Glen, Darren (Kiri), Nicky (Wayne Scott), Sarah (Don Erb), Jeff, Jenny and Kara; grandchildren Caelan, Lauren, Taylor, Kyle and Malachi; brothers and sisters Michael, Alberta, Robert, Elaine,Sam, Janet, Ellen, Rita, David and Richard.  She will be sadly missed by extended family and friends. Valšs amazing spirit and zest for life were an inspiration to all.  Her laughter was contageous.  Her kindness was unstoppable.  Her generosity was endless.  She was a classy lady.  She loved her family. Remember when we said, ŗWhen we turn gray when the children grow up and move away, we wonšt be sad.  Wešll be glad for all the life wešve had˛ and we will remember always. Friends and family were invited to attend the service on Saturday, February 28, 2004 at 1 p.m., at the Church of Ascension, 887 Wembley Road, French Creek, reception to follow.
