Brown: Arthur  1917 - 2004

Arthur Brown was born in Calgary on August 31, 1917.  He died peacefully on June 7, 2004 in the Drumheller Hospital of chronic heart failure and pneumonia. Arthur is survived by his loving wife Elaine; daughters Heather of Montreal and Janet Turner of Slave Lake; and son David of Drumheller; grandson Ian Turner; his twin sister Bertha McCracken (Gene) of Calgary; and brother William of Calgary; many nieces and nephews; and his buddy on the farm Marilyn Wattenbarger.  He was predeceased by his mother Violet, father John, brother Hugh, and sister Margaret. Arthur farmed in the Verdant Valley area all of his life except for the four years he served in the Army Service Corp. in England, Holland, Belgium and France (1942-45). Arthur served on the Municipal Council of Starland for 22 years.  He was first chairman of Sunshine Lodge, and on the Drumheller Health Unit Board. He raised turkeys for many years and loved to farm the land. He was a member of Knox United Church and an elder of this church for many years after the war, and adherent of the Drumheller Alliance Church for the past 15 years.   His wish was to be cremated.  A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Alliance Church (to be announced).  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1825 Park Road S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 3Y6. Valentini:  Jeannette Marie  1943 - 2004

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Jeannette Marie Valentini in Drumheller on June 2, 2004 at the age of 60 years. Jeannette was born on November 19, 1943 in Drumheller to William and Amelia Walker.  She took her schooling in the Valley.  Jeannette worked and served the public with pride for forty years in the restaurant industry.  She loved to camp, garden, and craft. She had her own bed and breakfast for two years, which enabled her to meet people from all over, which was special to Jeannette. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi for many years. Jeannette enjoyed her family and travelling with her husband on back of his motorcycle.  Jeannette will be sadly missed by her loving family and a lifetime of friends. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband Ernie, daughter, Teresa Fahrion, son, Ernest (Rose) Valentini, grandchildren, Steven, Kristy, Melissa all of Drumheller, mother, Amelia Walker, sisters, Diane Winkler, Susan (Bruce) Rees, Irene (Sandy) Brown, Mary (Dennis) MacAreavy, brothers, Stan (Diane) Walker, Murray Walker.  Jeannette was predeceased by her father, William Walker, brother Donny Walker, sister Judy Marshal. A Service of Remembrance was held on Monday June 7, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. from Courtney-Winter's Chapel In The Valley with Reverend Merlyn Bowker officiating.  If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. Courtney-Winter's Funeral Chapel were in care of the arrangements.
