Brennand: Robert 1912 - 2004
Robert (Bob) Brennand died June 9, 2004 at the age of 92. He is survived by his
daughter Margaret (Wayne) Wasmann of Calgary; daughter-in-law Shannon Brennand
of Drumheller; as well as his grandchildren David Brennand of Drumheller, Josh
Brennand of Calgary, Melanie Wasmann of Philadelphia, PA, and Christopher
Wasmann of Lethbridge. During his 50 some years in Drumheller, he devoted many
hours to his church and community including City Alderman from 1956 - 1962,
Parish Counsel Chairman, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, President of the
Drumheller Legion, and President of the Navy League of Canada. Serving in the
Second World War, he was one of the last living veterans. He also was
instrumental in establishing what will now become K-12 St. Anthonyıs Separate
School in Drumheller. Bob spent 15 years in Halifax, N.S. after his
retirement. He came back to Calgary after his wife passed away in 1999. Robert
owned and ran Brennand Industrial Supplies on Railway Avenue for over 30 years
with his son, Bob. Bob was also an accomplished artist and pianist and loved to
paint and play piano for pleasure. He always had a keen interest in computer
technology, e-mailing his friends and family across Canada and the U.S. on a
regular basis and encouraging his fellow seniors to do the same. Bob will be
missed by his family and friends, but rests peacefully now with his wife Mollie
and son Bob who passed before him.

Cairns: Merva
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Merva May Cairns on June
19, 2004. She was predeceased by her son Jerry Petkau and by her mom and
dad, Thelma and Andy Kozak. She leaves to mourn her husband Chris Cairns;
son Trevor Cairns (Tash, Christopher and Jenny); daughter Tracey Dalton (Bob,
Jeff, Nick and Steph); brother James Kozak (Lea, Jenelle and Andrew); as well
her beloved pets Chelsey, Rosie and Smoky. Her wishes were no funeral, and we
are respecting that wish. If you would like to make a donation to the Cancer
Centre at the hospital that would be most appreciated.

King: Russell 1935 - 2004
Russell was born in Drumheller to Archie and Mary Belle King August 15th, 1935.
He died suddenly on his farm, June 18th, 2004. He is survived by his wife
Shirley, three children, Allan King of Drumheller, Sandra Rowell of High Level,
and Brian King of Rocky Mountain House. He has four grandchildren, Trenton
Rowell, Melissa Rowell, Venessa Rowell and Bryce Rowell. He was predeceased by
his father in 1951, His mother Mary King in 1982, an infant daughter Elizabeth
in 1960 and his sister Marie Stanger in 1997. He was raised in the Michichi area
and attended the Mount Carmel school. He went to high school in Drumheller
while living in the Drumheller Dormitory After the death of his father his
mother, moved to Drumheller. After graduation he worked in the
unemployment office there and then went farming for his brother-in-law, Ron
Stanger. He then bought a dairy herd from Ernie Cousins and started farming on
his own. He married Shirley Burroughs in 1958 and they made their home and
started raising their family on the old farmstead. They moved to the river land
east of Rosedale in 1963. They then moved north west of Caroline in 1975 and
Russell again milked cows until the herd was replaced by a beef herd. Russell
lived there until his death.
Russell was elected to the council of the Local Improvement District #10 in 1980, He served on many committees and chaired many boards. He worked hard to achieve the amalgamation of the I.D. to a Municipality., and then later to a County. He was on the Red Deer Health Unit and the Caroline Recreation Board as well. Some of the boards he chaired were West View Lodge, the Development Appeal board, The Fire Department and Ambulance boards, the Assessment Appeal Board and CAB (the Caroline Advisory Board). He also served a term as Reeve. He retired from council in 2001 after 21 years of service. He then became a member of the David Thompson Regional Health Authority, where he worked on several committees. He was a member of two Provincial Justice committees that assesses candidates for Judges. He also found time to become a member and Chairman of the Caroline Volunteer Ambulance Board. Russell was well known for his common sense decisions and bringing a different approach to the table on all the boards that he served.
Russell was a friend and helper to all and will be sadly missed.

Moar: Clinton James Garson 1958 - 2004
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Clint Moar on June 19,
2004 at the age of 45 years. Clint was born on December 13, 1958 to Marcus and
Alice Moar in Drumheller, Alberta. He was the eldest of three children. Clint
took all his schooling in the Drumheller Valley. Upon completion of high
school, Clint took three years of Mechanics in Calgary. This proved to be very
handy as Clint loved to tinker with cars, trucks, and farm machinery. He spent
some time hunting and fishing. Clint along with his brother John farmed the
family land, he
enjoyed the outdoors, and he had a love of animals. Spending time with his
family was Clintıs greatest joy, especially his children. He also enjoyed his
retreat to the river where he spent his quiet hour. In the last three years
Clint put forth a lot of effort and time to put on the famous "Mud Bog" at his
farm which he had a lot of fun doing.
Clint was predeceased by his father Marcus James Moar on December 25, 1996. Clint leaves to cherish his memory his children; son Chad (Kim), daughter Molly, his mom Alice, brother John (Wanda), sister Maureen (Mel), chosen daughters Katie, Megan, Tara, his niece Teanna and his nephew Grayson, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a lifetime of friends. The family invites everyone to come and share their own memories of Clint over light refreshments at the Orkney Community Hall on Thursday June 24, 2004 at 3:00 P.M. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Orkney Community Hall c/o Faye McGhee. Courtney-Winter's Funeral Chapel are in care of the arrangements.
