Chomas: Henry

Henry Chomas passed away peacefuly on November 8, 2003 in Calgary.  He is survived by his beloved wife Sandy and sons Colin and Cory.  Henry was predeceased by his father, Steve Chomas, who passed away December 19, 1976 and mom Elaine, who passed away on April 22, 2003, and a sister, Theresa, who passed away on August 21, 2003.  He had siblings:  Billy, Myles, Greg and John Chomas, and sisters Joanne, Marsha, Marcella, Liza and Debra.  Henry's love was hockey, COPS, Calgary Flames, fishing and camping.  He owned Jack's Taxi for six years.  He liked working on cars.  Henry's wish was not to have a service.  He was cremated in Calgary.  Henry died at the age of 44 of a stroke in Calgary.  In lieu of flowers, friends and family can pay respect to Sandy and the boys.

Ewing: Marjorie Ellen  1923 - 2003

Marjorie Ellen Ewing passed away peacefully November 13, 2003 at the Drumheller Hospital.  Marjorie was born April 8, 1923 in Edmonton to Herbert and May Rutter, and was raised in Coal Valley near Rosiland. She married Bill Ewing on October 7, 1939 in Donalda, and then she resided in Drumheller for the past 57 years.  Marjorie was a former member of the Rebekah Golden Rule Lodge and the Royal Canadian Legion. Marjorie was pre-deceased by her husband Bill on June 2, 1981, her parents Herbert and May Rutter, her son Douglas; grandsons Steve Ewing and Herb Ewing; and her sister Agnes Ewing and Amy Chambers.  Marjorie is survived by her loving family, sons  Walter (Carmen) - Girouxville, Herb (Pat) - Pincher Creek, and Dennis - Calgary; her daughters - Shirley-Ann Barnard (Doug) - Acme, Dorothy Allan (Don) - Calgary; and daughter-in-law Linda - Fort Saskatchewan; and her close friend and companion Tim Reed of Drumheller; her brother Dud Rutter (Pearl) - Cranbrook.  She leaves to mourn 16 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.  She was especially proud of 3 generations of twins in the family.  Mom was a loving mother, granny and "Granny Great" who always put her family before herself.  Her hobbies included crocheting, rug making, embroidery, as well as visiting with family and friends. Mom will live forever in our hearts.  Good bye Mom, until we meet again.  Rest In Peace.  We love you. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. According to Mom's wishes, there will be a private family memorial service only, and her body was donated to the University of Calgary Body Bequeathal Programme.

Hodgson: Ronald Robert  1914 - 2003

Ronald Robert Hodgson passed away at the Drumheller Hospital on November 9, 2003 at the age of 89 years.  Ron touched many lives in his journey through almost 90 years of life.  Born in Waseca, SK in 1914, along with two sisters, Stella Johnston (deceased 2002), and Winnie Severinson of Vancouver, B.C.  They moved with their parents to Rosedale, AB in 1918 where they went to school. Grandpa Hodgson ran a store and theatre in the early days in Rosedale.  Ron married Madeline MacKay in 1936 and had three children.  By the middle 30's, soup kitchens, unemployment and relief camps were common.  Ron worked the coal mines and was active in the Mineworkers Union.  In the spring of 1940 the Hodgsons moved to a homestead near Sylvan Lake, AB.  Ron continued to work in the mines in Nordegg and Alexo until giving up farming and moving to Sylvan Lake to work for the Police Department.  In 1959, they moved back to Drumheller where he worked as a bartender, school bus driver, at the Auto Wreckers, and for many years at t he Drumheller Hospital, until  his retirement and Madeline's passing away in 1994.  Ron always enjoyed camping, fishing and playing cards with friends.  In 1996 Ron married Shirley Steward and has lived happily in Drumheller spending their leisure hours visiting and playing cards with friends at the Pioneer Trail Centre.  Besides his loving wife Shirley, Ron will be sadly and lovingly remembered by his children and their families:  Roy (Cynthia) Hodgson of Calgary, AB (grandchildren Tasha, Ryen and Pala); Gail Galusha and her daughter Shannon (Alex) Clarke of Lethbridge, AB (great grandchildren Madeline, William and Charolett); and Heather Sjare of Sylvan Lake, AB (grandchildren Becky, Mike, Holly, and great granddaughter Madison).  In accordance with Ron's request, there will be no funeral or service of memory.  Cremation took place in Calgary, AB with arrangements made by Courtney-Winter's Funeral Home in Drumheller, AB.  In lieu of flowers, friends may, if they wish, make a donation to a charity of their  choice in his memory.

Jacobsen: Harry  1925 - 2003

Harry Jacobsen of Drumheller passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 10, 2003 at the age of 78. Harry was born in Drumheller on July 8, 1925 to Peter and Agnes Jacobsen.  He was raised in Dalum and farmed in the area with his wife Dolores (Dodie) until their retirement in 1983, when they moved into Drumheller. Harry is survived by his beloved wife Dodie; children Gary (Hope), Rod, Trish and Greg; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sisters Ruth (Alec), Grace (Alf), and Edith (Jim); brother-in-law Howard (Greta); sisters-in-law Myrna (Fred), and Eileen (Ed). Harry is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and relatives in the United States. Funeral services were held in Dalum on Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association. Courtney-Winter's Funeral Chapel entrusted with the arrangements.

MacDonald: Marion Gertrude  (DWAN)  1909 - 2003

Beloved Mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away, at the age of 94, on November 15, 2003. Marion was born in Vancouver February 27, 1909.  The family moved to Lacombe when she was 6 years old and stayed there throughout her school years. After she was married to Sinnott they lived in Clive, Calgary and settled in Drumheller in 1942.  Here they made a happy life with wonderful friends.  They enjoyed curling, golfing and their Good Time dance club, and most importantly bridge.  Marion was a champion bridge player and won many prizes. Marion will be sadly missed by her daughters Dianne (David) Blair, Patricia (Terry) Skinberg, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  Marion was predeceased by her loving husband Sinnott in 1988, two sisters and one brother. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church with Father Daniel Stevenot presiding.  If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.  Courtney-Winter's Funeral Chapel entrusted with the arrangements.
