Leonard lived most of his life working in scrap iron in Lethbridge, Alberta. He moved to Drumheller to live with his brother, Ross, in the year 2000. In February 2003, Leonard moved in to Long Term Care, where he remained until his passing. One of Leonard's past times was writing poems for the Lord of which we will share:

Only a Tract

I'm only a tract, but I tell you
Of God's love and grace so free,
Pardon for poor lost sinners
Purchased on Calvary's tree.

I tell of One who was willing,
To come from heaven above
Into this world of sin and darkness
Because of His great love.

I carry a message of salvation;
Whosoever will come, 'tis true,
May receive this pardon freely,
This is all that you can do.

This, then, is my message to you.
Receive it without delay,
While Christ is speaking to you,
Accept Him as your Saviour today.

Native American Prayer

I give you this one thought to keep-
I am with you still - I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone-
I am with you still - in each new dawn.
