ANDREASEN: Richard Gunner 1926 - 2003 Born December 17, 1926 in Bassano, formerly of the Hussar area. Passed away January 9, 2003 in Drumheller at the age of 76 years. He is survived by his wife Edna, daughters June, Lisa, Kristine (Otto) and Elaine (Ron) and son Einar. He is also survived by his sister Edel, nieces Brenda (Larry) and children, Lila (Danny) and children, nephew Mark, six grandchildren, Greg, Glen, Brian, Sarah, Shelly and Kevin, two great grandchildren Darren and Alexis. Richard was predeceased by his father Eske, mother Sofie, brother-in-law Svend and nephew Paul. DICK: Mary Isabel 1918 - 2003 Mary Dick (nee Watters) of Michichi, Alberta passed away January 8, 2003 at the age of 84 years. Mary was born March 12, 1918 at Austin, Manitoba to Don & Ella Watters. She was predeceased by her parents, her eldest brother Scotty and her younger brother Pat. Mary is survived by her loving husband Alex (Dick), her two daughters Carol (Ted) Morris of Grand Forks, B.C., and Beverly (Ron) Deitz of Calgary; four grandsons, Todd (Liza) Trohan of Michichi, Corey (Tina) Trohan of Blackfalds, AB., Darren (Maria) Deitz of Calgary, and Jeff Deitz of Brooks, AB. She is also survived by five very special great-grandsons, Taylor & Brett Trohan, Austin Trohan, and Nicholas & Noah Deitz, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves to mourn her many loving friends in the community with whom she never failed to keep in contact with, even though in her latter years she was housebound, she always kept in touch by phone. Mary was a wonderful cook and loved to bake. She was also an avid gardener. Mary was an active member for over 28 years in her TOPS chapter, and was a charter member, and also a life member of Pioneer Acres at Irricana. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her family was her life and we will always have many fond memories of chipit cookies, chocolate angel food cakes, picking raspberries,  smarties, midnight toast and honey-combs, and that special 'under F' buck-et! Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2003 at Mountainview Memorial Gardens in Calgary with Rev. Orilla Bogart officiating. Honorary pallbearers were all of Maryıs friends and relatives, active pall-bearers were her four grandsons, Todd and Corey Trohan, and Darren and Jeff Deitz. PELLETIER (CHAMCHUK) Anna 1905 - 2003 Born in Kolendiany, Ukraine on September 6th, 1905, Anna passed away while a resident of Mill Woods Shepardıs Care Nursing Home in Edmonton, Alberta on January 7th, 2003. A long time resident of East Coulee, Alberta, she was predeceased by her first husband Stephen Chamchuk on March 4th, 1957, and her second husband Henry Pelletier on May 9th, 1976. She is survived by her two sons Roman (Gloria) of Drumheller and Nicholas of Edmonton, as well as three grandchildren (Roman): Connie, Brenda, and Roxanne, and four grandchildren (Nicholas): Stephen, Kelly-Ann, Nicholas (Karen), and Perry, and six great-grand-children. Interment is in a reserved plot between her two husbands in the family section of Drumheller Cemetery, with a brief grave-side interment ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 18th, followed by a wake at the Drumheller Inn at 3 p.m. Donations in memoriam should be made to the Mill Woods Sheperdıs Care Centre, 6620 - 28th Ave., Edmonton, Alberta, T6K 2R1. RENN: Harry G. 1920 - 2003 Harry G. Renn, beloved husband of Vi Renn of Brooks, passed away in Brooks on January 7th, 2003 at the age of 82 years. Born in Orion, Alberta on June 28th, 1920. He farmed with his dad in the Redland area where he met Violet. Harry and Violet were married in Calgary on March 15th, 1945. They eventually moved to Drumheller and in 1959 came to Brooks. Harry worked for Doug Grayson in his Tire Shop until starting with the Brooks Golf Course as Superintendent in 1963. He also ran the Curling Rink in Brooks until 1970. Harry first retired in 1987 until, in 1989, he was asked to work as Consultant in the construction of the Duchess Golf Course. He continued to work there in Maintenance until 2000. Harry was a member of the Canadian Golf Superintendents Associations, the Southern Alberta Turf Associations and the Brooks Elks Club. He will be best remembered for his love for his family, his sense of humour and his love for the game of golf. Harry was predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, step-mother and 2 step-brothers. He is survived by his loving family, wife Violet; 2 sons, Barry and his wife Pat and Errol and his wife Marlene all of Brooks; granddaughter Laurie Morgan and her husband Roger of Brooks; grandson Fred Renn of Brooks; great granddaughter Alexandria Morgan of Brooks; sister Alvina Weigum and her husband Geo of Drumheller; sister-in-law Lorraine Renn of Drumheller; step-sister Alice Helwig of Calgary and numerous nieces and nephews. WALKER:  Dr. Alan John 1918 - 2003 Dr. Alan John Walker, of Vernon, B.C., died peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his family, on January 11th, 2003. Born June 13th, 1918 in Putney, London, U.K., he is survived by his children; Elizabeth Scott (John), Ian (Nancy), Robin (Joanne), Alison, and Michael Cooper (Jennie), twelve grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, and pre-deceased by his wife Lorna. Alan was educated at Epsom College and St. Bartholomewıs Hospital Medical School, and was a fellow of the British, Canadian and American Colleges of Surgeons. He practiced surgery in Drumheller from 1951 to 1973, and in Vernon from 1973 to 1985, including two years as Chief of Surgery. An unstinting volunteer and public leader, he served the Drumheller School Board, the Rotary Clubs of Drumheller and Vernon (elected as a Paul Harris Fellow), the Drumheller Music Festival, the Alberta Provincial Music Festival, St. Magloireıs Anglican Church/Drumheller, the Diocese of Calgary executive, All Saintsı Anglican Church/Vernon, the Diocese of Kootenay executive, and was an Officer Brother in the Order of St. John. Alan was an accomplished Mason, a corresponding member of QCCC, and was particularly proud to have been Past Master of Symbol and Kalamalka Lodges, as well as Provincial Grand Prior of the Knights Templar. Alan was an enthusiastic sailor, gardener, choir member, and typist extraordinaire; an innovative composter and a keen recycler. His sense of humour was unique, and has permanently affected those that knew him. The greatest joy of his life was to have his family gathered around him. Alanıs family are grateful to the former colleagues and staff who came to say good-bye. Thanks to Vernon Jubilee Hospital Emergency and 3 West for their kind care and attention, and special thanks to Dr. Paul Smylie and the ICU and Respiratory staff for their exceptional and affectionate support. A memorial service was held at All Saints Anglican Church, Vernon, on Tuesday, January 14th, 2003 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Chris Harwood-Jones officiating.
