Schumacher: Gladys Geraldine

On Sunday, November 23, 2003 Gladys Geraldine Schumacher of Drumheller, AB, aged 97, died after a long and full life.  Gladys was born at Ellendale, North Dakota and came to Canada with her father Peter Christian Knudson who homesteaded near Watts, AB in 1909.  She was the youngest of 3 brothers and 2 sisters who all predeceased her. She was a school teacher and married Louis Peter Schumacher of Sunnynook, AB.  They had 3 children, Stan (Virginia) of Drumheller, Jean (Bill) Sakal of Calgary, and June (Herb) Bittman of Sequim, Washington, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren who survived her.  She was predeceased by her husband Louis in 1978. Gladys was very active in the Knox United Church and it¹s Women¹s Auxiliary and United Church Women as well as the Order of the Eastern Star.  A service celebrating Gladys¹ life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Decemeber 3, 2003 in Knox United Church, Drumheller, AB conducted by the Rev. C.M. (Mac) Jones. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Drumheller Area Health Foundation, 351-9th Street N.W., Drumheller, AB  T0J 0Y1.
