Charette: Dolores Elaine - December 7, 1923 - August 3, 2003

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Dolores Charette announces her passing at the age of 79 years at the Red Deer General Hospital.  Dolores was born December 7, 1923 in Lampman, Saskatchewan; the ninth of 14 children born to Thomas and Anna Grimes. In 1944 she married George Charette and together they raised eight children: Bob and Karen of Calgary and their children Terry and Tracey; Jay of Vancouver; Jeff and Sandra of Ottawa and his children Sonny and Carrie; Karen-Lee and Mark Andrew of Drumheller and their children Chelsea, Laura, Maris, Dana and Dustin; Michele and Ken Rutledge of Hardisty and their children Mary, Anna, Tess, Mia and Jake; Kathy of Breton; and Ross of Drumheller.  Dolores was predeceased by her husband George and her son Kerry both in 1986 and by 5 sisters and 4 brothers. Dolores made Drumheller her home since 1967.  She was well known in the community and a friend to all.  She loved music, particularly live theatre, singing in St. Anthony's Church choir and the Passion Play choir. Throughout the course of her life she was a seamstress, a gardener, a quilter, a school teacher and a homemaker.  Dolores had a tremendous sense of humor and a great zest for life.  She also had the ability to laugh at herself.  Her happiest moments were at large family gatherings where she attempted to be involved in every conversation in the room.  Her pride in her family was always evident.  Dolores had a deep faith that we all admired.  She was a giving woman who spent many years visiting shut-ins of the community and driving parishioners to Mass. Prayers for Dolores Charette will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2003 and Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2003 at St. Anthonyšs Church in Drumheller at 11:00 A.M.  Courtney-Winter's Funeral Chapel entrusted with arrangements.  In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to any Palliative Care Unit or the donor's choice.
