Hamilton: Theresa  April 6, 1948 - August 21, 2003

There are people in this life that make an everlasting impression on those around them and we will always remember Theresa as the most warm, strong and caring gift that anyone ever received.

It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce that our dearest Theresa has lost her courageous battle with breast cancer. Her endearing spirit will always be remembered as a guiding beacon for those she loved and touched by her true compassion. Theresa leaves her loving husband Gerry; her sons Craig (Urai), Warren (Christie); her daughter Heather (Matthew); and her step-daughter Elizabeth. She also leaves behind her mother Lorraine Ferguson; three sisters Rita (Don) Phelps, Joanne (David) Morrison, Roberta (Bill) Fogg; and her four brothers Ken (Nelda), David (Debbie), Gordon (Sharon) and Rod; as well as many nieces and nephews. Theresa also leaves her faithful dogs, Webster and Chloe. She was predeceased by her father, Jim Carter in 1998. Theresa was one of the finest educators ever to enter a classroom. She was a true professional in every aspect of the word. She treated each individual with respect and compassion. Her career spanned three decades at St. Anthony's School in Drumheller at all subject levels. She gave to each of her students the gift of abundant love and the joy of learning. Her classroom was a true joy to enter and all her students returned the love she so generously expressed. Theresa had such an amazing love for life and all God's creations. Whenever anyone, person, plant or animal needed rescue, Theresa would welcome them and open her heart and home. Her laughter and kind words will echo in our memories forever more. Theresa touched the lives of everyone who knew her. The world is truly a better place for having her in it. The family would like to thank everyone at the Drumheller Community Care Cancer Centre for the excellent care that they provided to Theresa during her lengthy struggle. Prayer Service was held at St. Anthony's Church in Drumheller at 8 p.m. Sunday, August 24. Funeral Services were held Monday, August 25 at 11 a.m., also at St. Anthony's Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Drumheller Community Care Cancer Center and/or to the Canadian Breast Cancer Society in Theresa's name.

Kloppenburg: Maria Henriette  April 1, 1900 - August 12, 2003

It is with deep sadness that we wish to announce the passing of Maria Kloppenburg, daughter of General and Mrs. Bleckmann, beloved wife of Charles Kloppenburg. Maria passed away quietly at her home in Drumheller after a brief illness. Maria was born at Kota Radja, Sumatra, April 1, 1900. Her father was stationed there at the time. She has lived in Java, Holland and 53 years in Drumheller, Alberta. Maria was predeceased by her husband Charles in 1962 and all of her 8 brothers and sisters. She leaves to mourn, her daughter Mary-Lou of Drumheller; her sisters-in-law Hermaine Martyn of Waterloo, Ontario and Mia Bleckmann of Belguim; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends in Canada, United States, Holland and Belgium. Mother had and has a loving and generous heart and helped many people on the way - family, friends, strangers, good friends - all helped her on her way too. In her own family, Maria was known as the "Peacemaker" and also as Maria (Mariette) with the "Golden Heart". Maria faced many hardships in her life, including the World War II years in Java, where Dad was a P.O.W. (Prisoner Of War) under the Japanese occupation. Mother met all hardships with prayer, and an indomitable courage. Mother was a woman of deep faith. She loved our Lord, Mother Mary and her church. Mother had a sharp mind and was interested in everything until the very end. Mother loved music, flowers, gardening and children - she looked after many children in the Valley. She belonged to St. Anthony's Church Choir and C.W.L. for 40 years and was a hostess at Pioneer Trail for 18 years. Mother had a great love for animals. In the later years, Mother never complained about diminished mobility or increasing dependency or other stresses that come from growing very old. She was a mighty prayer warrior, prayer partner and intercessor and saw that as her greatest calling. I and the family and your dear friends will miss you, Mom. We love you. We know you will continue to pray. Au Revoir - Mary-Lou, daughter. Funeral service mass was held August 18, 2003 at 1 p.m. at St. Anthony's with Father Daniel Stevenot officiating.
