She left the farm to obtain a teaching degree and taught in many locations throughout the province and beyond. She loved to travel and journeyed to many interesting and exotic destinations around the world. Later, when Mary retired in 1977, she became one of Drumhellers' recognizable people about town. She was an avid, determined walker who put on an incredible amount of miles throughout her lifetime. As a brittle diabetic, there were many times that Mary required the assistance of others. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all those "Drumheller Angels" who were always there in her time of need. Your unfailing care and compassion were proof to Mary that you were indeed heaven sent each and every time she was in need. Mary remained true to her faith and close to her God until the very end. She will be remembered for her devotion to her religion as well as her great love for her family and friends. It was a privilege to witness Mary gracefully accept the diminishing conditions of her life and glide effortlessly to a higher level of grace. If people so desire, donations may be made in her memory to the Canadian Diabetes Society (15 Toronto Street #800 Toronto, ON M5C 2E3.
