Shadlock: Darcy Glen It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, son, brother, uncle and dear friend on September 20, 2002. Darcy was born in Drumheller, Alberta, on November 26, 1959, to Walter and Anna Shadlock, completing their family with an older brother Lawrence and sister Joanne. He grew up farming and ranching in the Drumheller, Morrin and Hanna areas. He graduated from the Drumheller Composite High School in 1977. Eventually he settled down working graders and moved up to a loader operator at the Luscar mine at Sheerness, Alberta, for the last 7 years. He truly enjoyed his job and the bigger the machinery the better! Darcy is survived by his beloved wife, Lorna and her 5 children. They were married June 14, 2002, following a 3 year courtship that made Darcy the happiest he had been after several years of darkness in his life. in their marriage vows, the minister said ³You cannot choose what changes and chances are to befall you in the coming years, but you can choose the spirit with which you will meet them². And for those who knew Darcy, he had such an indomitable spirit. Darcy also leaves to mourn his passing, his children, Tarence and Tylee-Jane Shadlock. Parents Walter and Anna Shadlock of Hanna, Alberta. Brother Lawrence (Marg) and their four children of Hanna, Alberta. Sister Joanne (Mike) Haworth and their 2 children of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Darcy was loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends. We will all miss his mischievous nature, his jokes, his magic tricks and his infectious laughter. "Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its shame, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful, Strive to be happy." From Desiderata. Darcy was cremated as per his wishes and a memorial service is planned for Saturday, September 28, 2002, at the Hanna United Church at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to S.T.A.R.S.
