Cairns: Helen Cairns passed away peacefully in her own home in Fort McMurray on September 29, 2002 at the age of 78. Helen was born and raised in Rumsey area and spent the majority of her life in Rosedale where she made a very happy home for her husband and six children.  When her husband Dan Cairns passed away in 1993 Helen moved from Rosedale into Drumheller and later to Fort McMurray. Helen was the greatest Mom and we will miss her very much.  She was a quiet, gentle person with an uncanny sense of humor. Helen was predeceased by her husband Dan; her sister Hazel Hampton; her brothers Irvin, Tobe, Bon, Jack and John Toliver.  She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Pete and Myrtle Toliver of Rumsey; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Beth and Jim Schow of Black Diamond; her brother-in-law Bob Cairns of Saskatchewan; and her sister-in-law Chrissy Moote of Ontario. Helen will always be in the hearts of her family: her son and daughter-in-law George and Sharon Cairns of Devon; daughter and son-in-law Marge and Alf Scharfl of Fort McMurray; son and daughter-in-law Chris and Merva Cairns of Rosedale; daughter Linda Rempel and friend Mike Chiernek of Westlock; son Irvin Cairns of Rosedale; step-son Jimmy (Tex) Cairns of Rosedale; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In a tribute to Helen, her grandsons and great-grandson are her pallbearers and her granddaughters are honorary pallbearers. Funeral Services were held Saturday, October 5, 2002 at the Knox United Church with Reverend Blair Kirkby officiating.  Helen will be laid to rest in the Drumheller Cemetery beside her late husband Dan Cairns.  In Helenšs memory donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association (1010, 10117 Jasper Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB, T5J 1W8). Arrangements entrusted to COURTNEY-WINTERšS FUNERAL CHAPEL with help from Robert Anderson Services of Fort McMurray.
