Hamilton: Ralph Edward Hamilton 1925 - 2002 God saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb So he closed your weary eyelids And whispered ³Peace be thine. Ralph Edward Hamilton passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2002 in Drumheller, Alberta. He is survived by his loving wife Doreen, children Donna (Mike) Hennessy of Victoria, BC, Ardis (Mark) Kettenbach of Rockyford, AB, Don (Marianne) Hamilton of Airdrie, AB. Grandchildren Chris (Natasha), Matt (Katie), Brett, Kristina, Mitchell, Taylor, and Joshua. Brother Eric Hamilton, sister Dagmar Persson, sisters-in-law Therese Koch and Marian Koch, brother-in-law Albin Freed as well as many nieces and nephews. Ralph was predeceased by his parents Hildur and Axel Hamilton, sister Margaret Freed, brothers-in-law Gordon and George Koch, Albert Persson and sister-in-law Emily Hamilton. Ralph was born in Stockholm, Saskatchewan where he started farming at a very early age. On January 16, 1947 he married Doreen Koch and continued farming and raising cattle. Ralph had great love and respect for animals and the outdoors. Ralph was community minded, belonging to the Credit Union Board, the Co-op Board, the Telephone Board, the Lutheran Church Board, the Rink Board, the Lions Club and the Valley Social Club. Ralph still had time to joke and play tricks on family and friends. Ralph enjoyed playing cards, curling, dancing, and playing horseshoe. Ralph and Doreen retired and moved to Rockyford, Alberta in 1997 to be near their children and grandchildren. Ralph's grandchildren were a great source of enjoyment for him in his last years. We would like to thank Dr. Nahornick and the loving and com-passionate staff of the Continuing Care Facility in Drumheller, AB. We will not forget your extraordinary care of Dad in the last year and a half and your kindness to his family. Shearlaw: Alice Marie Shearlaw (nee Anderson) born April 18, 1917, passed away peacefully October 23, 2002 at St. Maryıs Health Care Centre, Trochu. Marie was born in Calgary to G. Fred and Violet I. Anderson. She moved from Calgary to Edmonton then to Vancouver and back to Calgary. Marie and her family then moved to Drumheller where they purchased a jewellery business. It was there that she met and married Norman N. Shearlaw. In 1949, they moved to Three Hills with Normanıs brother, Ronald and their families and purchased Three Hills Locker and Storage that remained a family business for 33 years. Marie was one of the first librarians of the IODE library (now the Three Hills Town Library) and set up the library at the Three Hills School. She drove rural mail routes for a number of years and was always active in the family business. When the first Recreation Board was set up in rural Alberta, Marie was a member for Three Hills. Marie was an active and life member of the Royal Purple #52, Three Hills as long as her health allowed (45 years) serving as Honored Royal Lady and District Deputy twice. She is survived by her son, Frederic Norman (Maria); daughter Linda Bernice (Brian); three grandchildren: Kim, Mike and Heather; only brother Geoff of Drumheller; sister-in-law Doreen, two nephews, five nieces and their families. Marie also leaves to mourn her passing, Dorothy Haverstock of Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Norman; father G. Fred, mother Violet, mother-in- law May, father-in-law Joseph, brothers-in-law Ronald and Douglas and sister-in-law Emily. Family was always important to Marie and she didnıt care if you were born into the family or just passing through, you were always a part of her life and she cared deeply about those she met and her capacity for love was unbounded. She will be missed by her family and friends and we thank her for all she taught us, whether she thought we were listening or not - we were listening to what you told us Mom and we will continue to hold you in our hearts forever. Watson: Pearl Mary It is with great sadness that her family announces the passing of Pearl Mary Watson in her 59th year, after a courageous struggle with cancer. Surrounded by her family she loved, Pearl passed away peacefully on October 26th, 2002 in Salmon Arm, BC. Pearl will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her and leaves to mourn, her 3 daughters; Cindy Trottier of Salmon Arm, Mary & Lloyd Hodge of Morrin, AB, Deborah & Brad Engen of Drumheller, AB, and all of her 7 adored grandchildren; David Schell, Nicole, Thomas & Mitchel Hodge and Cody, Rachel & Brady Engen. Pearl was born in North Battleford in Sask. on September 12, 1943. She was predeceased by her parents, George (1985) and Elizabeth (1965) Trottier. Pearl made her final move to Salmon Arm in 1997. She will be remembered for her kindness and devotion to her family, friends and community.
