Remfert: Edward Douglas: Eddie was born in Hanna on May 28 , 1948, the fourth child of Albert and MoIIy Remfert. He took his schooling in Delia. After his fathers passing, Eddie being independent and free spirited tried various occupations such as elevator painting and log rolling. At the age of 16 he joined the Canadian Army. He spent three years stationed in Eastern Canada and Hemer, Germany. After leaving the army Eddie returned to Delia. He worked at carpentry, specializing in shingling and renovating houses. Eddie enjoyed the company of his beloved mother and young son Max. Eddie became restless and tried making a career in the Oil Patch, his jobs took him all over Alberta, British Columbia, Northern Canada and Newfoundland. During a slump in the Oil Patch, Eddie tried his hand at window washing on high rises in Chicago. He later moved back to Fort St. John where he helped his brother Ray construct a log house. Once again Eddie returned to the Oil Patch, moving from Grand Prairie to Red Deer where he met and married Terry, his special lady. Eddie eagerly took on the role of Dad to Terryıs sons, Wade and Rodney, and delighted in the raising of his last son Josh. With another slump in the Oil Patch and Eddieıs determination to provide for his family, they moved back to Fort St. John. That move allowed Eddie to reconnect with his brothers Jim, of Dawson Creek and Ray of Fort St. John. After a few years in Northern B.C. the distance from family became a concern. Eddie agreed to Terryıs request to move back to Alberta thus enabling them to be near their boyıs and Molly, his mother. Eddie has a vast spectrum of various interests. Once the challenge was met it was on to bigger more challenging projects. Keeping active Eddie remodeled houses; did feather braiding, saddle building, upholstery, restoring cars and as well conquered the sewing machine and the kitchen stove. In spite of his struggle with hay fever and asthma, Eddie had a great love for the outdoors. He enjoyed roughing it in the back country, horseback riding and hunting with anyone he could talk into the adventure. Eddieıs philosophy in life was to live each day to itıs fullest. He enjoyed dancing, country music, socializing with old friends and storytelling. His sense of humor was often misunderstood until people got to know him. With Eddieıs recent illness he let his guard down and allowed many people to see the gentle, thoughtful, reflective man he was. Eddie had deep concern for his family. Terry and his four boys were always upper most in his thoughts and he spoke of their future with great love and hope. In spite of Eddieıs complex personality he touched the hearts of all that had the privilege of knowing him.
