James:  1918-2002 Mr. Hubert (Bert) James beloved husband of Mrs. Mona James of Airdrie, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at the age of 84 years. Bert was born on the family farm on March 14, 1918 in Verdant Valley, AB. He met Mona in 1948 and they married in 1949. Together they farmed in the Munson area until the mid 1970Ős when they sold the farm, and moved to Drumheller and then to Airdrie in 1993. Bert enjoyed gardening, fishing, boating, hunting and going for long walks. Besides his loving wife, Bert is also survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Linda and Howard Baron of Airdrie, Connie and Doug Lester of Red Deer, Fay Ann Wallace of Calgary and Christine and Brad Wiebe of Stettler; a son, Dan James and his companion Marilyn Wallace of Airdrie; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Lillian of Calgary. Bert was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and three brothers. Laslop:  Mr. Joseph Laslop, beloved husband of Emma, father of Trudy (John-deceased) Kenney, Eleanor (Jerry) Machacek, grandfather of Jeffrey (deceased), Joseph, Joshua, Christine, Mark, and Evan. Joe passed away on May 22, 2002 at the Drumheller Regional Health Complex after a brief illness. A Prayer Vigil was held at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church on Friday, May 24, 2002 at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass was held at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, May 25, 2002 at 2:00 pm, Father Daniel Stevenot celebrant. Interment will follow at a later date.
