De Repentigny: Dorothy passed away peacefully after a sudden stroke at Foothills Hospital on Saturday, June 1, 2002, at the age of 73 years. Her only brother Billy and her daughter Jo-Ann were by her side when the Lord called her home. She was born September 15, 1928 in Drumheller. She grew up in Nacmine, where her kind heart made her bring home many stray cats and dogs. Left to celebrate her life are her only child Jo-Ann de Repentigny (Denis Couturier), her mother Marcella Kirchgessner, brother Billy (Lorraine) Brooks, niece Dawn (Tony) Scott and great niece Delaine, cousin Ross Ferby, all of Calgary and sister-in-law Mildred Renville of Vancouver, many nieces and nephews and very good friend Allen Hopper. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Joseph of 32 years in 1986 and father William Brooks in 1970. Dorothy moved to Calgary in the early 1950Ős where she graduated from Garbuts Business College. While working in Exshaw, she met her future husband Joseph and they were married in 1954. During her career she worked for Irwin Drugs, Woods Fireplaces, The Dairy and later Woodwards in the toy and hardware departments for 12 years. She lived in Kingsland for the last 38 years. She took great pride in her family, home and garden. Dorothy was a devoted wife to Joseph and this was evident during his lengthy illness, where she provided great care and gave him quality of life. She was a devoted daughter to her best friend and constant companion, her mother Marcella. They lived together for the past 4 years where Dorothy provided a warm and loving atmosphere for her mother. They were dubbed 'The Dynamic Duo'. Dorothy was a loving mother to daughter Jo-Ann, who was actively involved in her life with son-in-law Denis. For a brief time Dorothy enjoyed being a member of the Skrastins Hiking Club. She was an avid stamp collector and biography reader. Because of her great generosity, Dorothy will be much missed by her family and friends. Mortimer: It is with sadness, love and cherished memories that the family of Pauline Mortimer announces that she passed away peacefully May 31, 2002 at the age of 87 at the Continuing Care residence in Drumheller. Pauline will be greatly missed by her loved ones. Although we lost her day by day over the past 4 years, the final loss still hurts. Pauline was born on December 9, 1914 in Turtle Lake, North Dakota. She immigrated to the Carbon area with her parents, brothers and sisters in 1923. She married Andrew Mortimer on December 3, 1937 and farmed in the Carbon area until 1975 when they sold their farm and retired to Carbon. She always enjoyed knitting slippers, cooking, playing cards, and having coffee with friends. In 1997 Pauline moved to the Sunshine Lodge in Drumheller, and in 1998 she moved into the Continuing Care facility. Her family, including daughter Gerri (Fred) Shadlock of Rosedale and their children - Donna (Gord) Thom of Brooks; Barb (Michael) Donovan of Oyen; Sandra (Gerald) Martynes of Drumheller; son Larry (Gail) Mortimer of Crossfield and their children - Kurtis Mortimer and Kari Mortimer of Calgary; four great grandchildren - Stacey and Deana Thom and Abbigayle and Harrison Martynes; two sisters Freda Klassen of Richmond, BC and Adeline (Eddie) Martin of Miller, South Dakota, and many nieces and nephews have had the privilege of having this special lady in their lives. She was predeceased by her loving husband Andrew on November 2, 1988 and her grandson Gene Shadlock on September 28, 1969; her parents; four brothers and four sisters. 'A loving mother, A grandmother kind With beautiful memories left behind, Her cheerful smile and loving face, No one can ever take her place.'  Funeral services were held on June 4th, 2002 at the Carbon Community Hall with Rev. Harold Black and Rev. Blair Kirkby officiating. Private family interment followed at the Carbon Cemetery. Nelson: Margaret Elizabeth Nelson (nee Macfarlane) passed away peacefully on June 2, 2002 at the age of 87 years at the St. Mary's Continuing Care Centre in Trochu. Margaret was born on November 30, 1914 on the family homestead north of Rowley. Throughout her life, she was an active member of her community and enjoyed some time as a member of the Big Valley Royal Purple. Margaret enjoyed curling, cooking, attending church and was a master of various handicrafts. Margaret and Bud were snowbirds; they wintered in Arizona, which they cherished. Margaret's greatest love was her husband and the love she had for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her husband and friend of 63 years, Bud Nelson, 4 children, Anna (Rick) Sharpe of Drumheller, Ed (Pat) Nelson of Langley, B.C., Greg (Chris) Nelson of Prince George, B.C., Marg (Don) Kober of Trochu, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one sister; Olive Aune and numerous other relatives. Margaret was predeceased by her mother Jenny in 1939, father Mac in 1934 and brother Jack in 1970. Funeral Services for Margaret will be held Thursday, June 6, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trochu Baptist Church. Neville: On May 28, 2002, Miss Mavis Bridget Neville of Edmonton passed away at the age of 82 years old. She is survived by three sisters and one brother, Phylis Simpson of Innisfail, Alberta; sister Marguerite Neville, Ursuline; sisters of Chatham, Regina, SK, Bernadette (Bob) Gardiner of Wichita, Kansas and Jim (Bernice) Neville of Calgary, Alberta. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her sister Rita Neville predeceased her in May of 2000. A memorial Mass will be celebrated by Reverend Ken West, on Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. from St. Thomas More Parish (2611-156 Street SW, Edmonton, Alberta.) A graveside service presided over by Reverend Daniel Stevenot, will take place on June 13, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Drumheller Cemetery. Todd: Mr. Frank A. Todd, beloved husband of Christine Todd of Delia, Alberta, much loved and respected grandfather of Zeta (Ayaz) Charania of Edmonton, Alberta and doting great grandfather of Jenna and Aniqa Charania, passed away peacefully at the Drumheller Regional Health Complex on May 30, 2002 at 95 years of age. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Frank was born in 1907 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, living thereafter with his family in Mine Center, Ontario and Oyen, Alberta, and as a young adult in Calgary and Michichi. He moved to Delia in 1935 where he met and courted Christine Peterson. They were married in 1941 and a son, Edmund, was born in 1942. The family moved to Michichi in 1947 as Frank purchased a business with his brother, Ed. In 1957, Frank moved back to Delia where he continued to reside until his passing. He was predeceased by his son, Edmund in 1981, his brother, Ed in 1988 and his sister-in-law, June Todd- Wiebe in 2001. As a teenager, he participated in cattle drives in the Oyen area. Shortly after, in Calgary, he trained to become a cinema projectionist and even did some prize- fighting. He then hired on with the Alberta Pacific Grain Company and was posted first to Michichi in 1932 and then to Delia in 1935. It was around this time Frank developed an interest in power generation and radios and he subsequently became a licensed electrician and radio and TV repairman. Frank moved to Michichi in 1947 and with his brother, Ed purchased the Imperial Oil Agency and Hardware Store. In 1957, he returned to Delia to take over the Imperial Oil Agency. The electrical contracting continued with his 'boys', most notably Jim Smith, Keith Johnson, and later, Don Nelson. And at nights, he would repair TV's, radios and small appliances in his workshop in the basement of his home. Frank served the Delia area faithfully for over sixty years. He will always be fondly remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Funeral Services were held Monday, June 3, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Delia United Church with Reverend Glenn Jarvis officiating. Graveside service and interment followed at the Delia Cemetery.
