Galbraith: Elizabeth Ruth (Russell) Galbraith born March 4 1913, passed away peacefully June 25 2002 at the Hanna Nursing Home. Elizabeth is survived by three sons; David (Deirdre) of Hanna, Duncan (Barbara) of Pincher Creek, Peter (Thea) of Calgary; one daughter Beth of Morrin; daughter in law Donna of Calgary; 32 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by her husband Bob in October 1963; son Robert in January 1996; daughter in law Carol (Robert's wife) in August 1994; and son Bill in January 1991. Mom was born in beaver Mines Alberta and spent most of her early life in the region around Beaver Mines and Blairmore where her father worked in the coal mines. It was coal mining that brought Mom to Drumheller where she met Robert Russell. They were married in January 1937 and worked the Russell homestead farm for many years until Robert Senior passed away in October, 1963. Mom then moved to Calgary and continued raising her family. She came back to Drumheller and then on to Southern Alberta where she married Bruce Galbraith in Raymond, Alberta. After Bruce passed away in January 1990, Mom moved back to Drumheller and then on to Hanna in 1997 where she was living at the time of her passing. We as a family appreciated very much the care that Mom received while she was a resident at the Hanna Nursing Home. We know that Mom was grateful for the kindness extended her there. Mom always made visitors feel welcome where ever she lived. She loved nature, music, and good conversation. She taught piano and was always active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints doing volunteer work and helping to teach young people. Mom leaves a legacy of hard work, diligence, honor and above all a good sense of humor. Funeral services were held at the Drumheller Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Saturday, June 29, 2002. Branch president Robert Fisher presided at the funeral as family members presented tributes to this valiant lady. Courtney's Funeral Services were entrusted with arrangements.
